A subscription is worth the purchase for students, though for more "permanent" installations I would go for the 2013 suite.

It is a great alternative as i needed office for school but am not a long time office user on my mac. I will continue on with the subscription as long as i need it and then discontinue it.

My only complaint is that I thought the surface was a tablet able to do many things. I was going to also install it on my laptop but couldn't because the Surface is considered a computer. So I lose a prescription in this package.

Got a 1 yr free subscription with my new laptop. I usually just buy the software license vs. an annual subscription. But, hey it was free and I'll figure out which way to go when the year is up.

Unless you must use office and cannot use any other open source alternative, using this will guarantee you have the most up to date version of office.
