It's subscription based for those that don't have or want to spend huge money on Microsoft Office 365 personal via disk. It 70 dollars a year so not bad. All around decent price and all updates on Microsoft are just automatic. Hassle Free... Would recommend this product to others.

With this feedback, Microsoft came out with Office 365 (subscription based only) versions and Office 2016 versions sold at a one-time retail price and you own it forever.
