    It's worth buying the Microsoft unit vs the cheaper ones elsewhere. This unit's mini display port end is angled to match the angle of the side of the Surface. The cheaper generic units aren't angled so they don't seat all the way. They work, but this unit fits perfectly.

    I give lots of presentations with my surface pro 3 and this adapter has been amazing when a projector is available. Thanks to its small and compact size it takes up no room in my bag. I highly recommend this as a must have accessory for your surface.

    My review is biased because I own a more-expensive, lower-quality similar item from Apple. While this one is actually pretty expensive too, it is better built all around and it shows. Plus the slightly longer cable is another nice to have

    Sad that Microsoft couldn't just build a VGA or DVI port into their docking station. Had to buy this to add the ability to plug an external monitor into the dock. Works thus far without issue.

    This adapter was average and effective but nothing spectacular. it's nice to have on hand to view movies or presentations on a television screen rather than the Surface Pro screen.

    The proprietary design of this adapt makes it of little value with other display port equipped devices. It does work fine with my surface pro 3.
