I like layout and how it ergonomically designed to fit my needs

This is my 5th one of these and it's a great keyboard

It helped my hands but could have more cushion for added support.

the keyboard is not only quiet but it's very comfortable to use

I'm going to write a review of the 4000 and the 7000, because they are basically the same keyboard only the latter is wireless. Pro's: This is one of the best keyboards you can buy. Typically once you go split-key you will never go back. I've been waiting for the laptop industry to figure that out for years... The cushioned wrist-pads are a MS original and help stave off carpal tunnel. To quote a character in the Matrix movies: "It's like wiping your a** with silk". Con's: The cord! You'll have to shell out $150 for the 7000 if you want to go cordless, which of course you do. Beyond the 7000's price, the chunky 7000 mouse may be absolutely the worst mouse ever made--- feels like holding a softball and is always tipping over from its own lack of balance. Why can't we buy the wireless 7000 sans mouse? Another con is the typical mushy feeling of the microsoft keyboard. Although to be fair, the 4000/7000 have the best key-feel MS has ever produced, even approaching the famed Logitech feel (Logitech has always kicked Microsoft's tail on the feel of the keys). You will typically have a LOT less typos with a Logitech and a MUCH faster WPM speed. Except this is the 4000/7000 keyboard we are talking about... a huge upgrade for Microsoft's key-feel. It's too bad that MS went wireless with the 7000 without incorporating Blue Tooth. A wireless keyboard/mouse combo is just that. A Blue Tooth keyboard (like certain Logitech models) transforms your computer in wonderful ways. You can send pics and syncronize data from a Blue Tooth phone/device, you can use cordless Blue Tooth headphones up to 60 feet away and other perks. Eventually Microsoft will figure out that having an on-board LCD screen is inevitable. Perhaps they'll even be the first to incorporate a color-screen using their patented keyboard scroll-wheel to zip between icons. That will be the day that we clean our screens of all icons once and for all. Someday after this we may even seen programmable LCD keypads. That will be the age when we finally have moved the hardware interface into the next millenium. Because of their indifference, for now Microsoft is about 8 years behind the technology curve of what is possible and necessary for keyboards. Other than that, for the price the 4000 is one of the best keyboards ever made. Definitely an upgrade over nearly any keyboard you can ever use. Try it and then BUY IT-- you will not be disappointed!
