Best keyboard I ever owned. I type for hours and my wrist is totally relaxed. Has some extra keys that allow you bring up the calculator, Internet Explorer etc. It comes with a USB-cable. The keyboard is large and may be a bit bulky for traveling.

    Best keyboard I have used

I've been using one of these at home and one at work for the past 8 years. I absolutely love it. On a standard keyboard my wrists start to hurt after about an hour of typing. Since my job involves a lot of typing (computer programmer), this is not good. This Microsoft keyboard keeps my wrists straight while I'm typing so I don't get that typing fatigue that I get on a standard keyboard. Also I am a fairly heavy gamer so it gets a lot of use in my spare time as well. 8 years of abuse, including pounding on it out of anger quite a few times, and it still just keeps working. Can't say enough good things about this keyboard. If you touch type and can get used to the split design, it's one of the best keyboards you can buy, especially for the price.

    A Really Comfortable Keyboard

    Posted .

This is a great keyboard with a few flaws. I wish that Microsoft would make this keyboard wireless, it would be so much more convenient. The lettering fades away with prolonged use, but it's only an issue if you need to keep looking at the keys when typing. The only other issue I would bring up is the rather thin wrist guard. It's okay, but would be much more comfortable if it had a bit more padding to it. Overlooking these small flaws, The keyboard itself is great and I really like the natural way your hands lay on the keys. If Microsoft would correct at least the wired aspect of their design, I would like this keyboard even more

After using my keyboard for a few weeks and being a school student i would say it is perfect for writing papers and just surfing the internet. The hand position is spot on and does indeed feel very natural to type on.

    Ergonomic Keyboard

This keyboard is great as far as ergonomics and the hotkeys are also well placed and easy to use. The "back" and "forward" explorer buttons just below the space bar are a wonderful idea, and the stand that it sits on works extremely well for the keyboard drawer I have assembled under by desk. I purchased this keyboard in an effort to replace the wireless keyboard my young children keep ripping keys off of. I like this keyboard cause the keys are easy to put back on and I think a little harder to remove in the first place.

    The Best

This keyboard is the best for typing it forces you to hold your hands properly on the keyboard or the buttons don't work. It takes some getting use to but once you do get the hang of it you will never want to go back to a flat, straight keyboard again. I bought a case of these so I can put them on every computer and have a couple spare ones just in case. The only thing that has ever gone wrong with these keyboards is the letters/numbers wear off and you are left with blank keys, not a problem if you know your keyboard but for some this may be an issue. I hope they continue to make these keyboards as it is the only keyboard I will ever buy.

    Getting used it keyboard

This is a wonderful keyboard. I use Linux and this board works perfectly. Even functions such as sound work perfectly. There is a learning curve because you have to become accustomed to not lifting your wrists. My wrists have been operated on. This keyboard is comfortable to use and I actually type faster with it. Just relax your wrists and shoulders. You will be amazed at how much easier it is to use this keyboard. Your shoulders and wrists will thank you.

I have had my current Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard for over 5 years. The ONLY reason I am replacing it is because a lot of the keys are now blank and not everyone in my household knows a keyboard layout. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in my hands. This keyboard provides good support and position to make it comfortable to use.

Nice product, wish it glowed in the dark. The design makes it easy on the wrists. The space bar needs to be broken in at first, a little stiff.

    Space Bar Sticks

I bought this for the ergonomic design and wrist support. There is a catch in the space bar requiring greater effort to depress the bar than just a tap on the key. Too late to return to the store, Microsoft requires the buyer to pay return shipping for the replacement. Don't want to invest again in the event it is a chronic design fault.

    Very Comfortable To Use

I have arthritis in my hands and require an ergonomic keyboard. This is a very comfortable one to use. The split keyboard and the spacebar took a little getting used to but once I overcame those small hurdles it became a joy to use. The only criticism I have is that the letters wear off the keys. I'm a touch typist so it's not such a great problem for me but it would be a huge problem for hunt-and-peck keyboarders.

    Now I love "split" keyboards!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I used to *hate* split keyboards. Yeah, sure they were ergonomic and good for your wrists and all that jive. But I never wanted to give them a chance. I thought two things: (1) It would take forever to get used to a split keyboard (2) I wouldn't be able to go back to standard keyboards easily It took about 10 minutes to get used to the raised up, split, and bigger feel to the keyboard.. then I was typing away like normal. Better than normal. **My wrists dont hurt at all, and this is THE most COMFORTABLE keyboard you can get***

I am so grateful for this find! No pain, cramping or stiffness whatsoever after typing on it all day (8+ hours)! Usually i can do a max of 2 hours on a regular keyboard. It took about an hour or two to get used to this keyboard but once i did, i knew this purchase was a game changer for me in the best way possible. I am so happy! Well worth the money and the time it took to acclimate to it.

This is a replacement keyboard as the first one I purchased at Best Buy was destroyed by a cup of coffee. This is one of the best designs for a keyboard with a lot of extra goodies, like the programable favorite buttons and the double function keys

    Awesome keyboard

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This keyboard does take some time to get used to, (unless you've used an ergonomic keyboard before), but it's worth the time. It's a much more natural position for your arms and I've found my wrists don't get sore like they would with a traditional keyboard. Definitely a good keyboard for the price- some ergonomic keyboards are rather expensive.

    Good Purchase

This is the first Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 that I have purchased. I have tested it in the store and I liked it so much, I went and picked one up today. This keyboard is very comfortable and easy on the wrists. My only complaint is the space bar. No matter where you press it... you have to press kind of hard to get the keyboard to acknowledge that you were trying to enter a space! Maybe I'll get used to it... Overall I like it so far with the exception of the spacebar.

    great ergonomics

I do medical transcription and use the keyboard for hours each day. I love the ergonomics and it has really reduced my tennis elbow, but after about a week of use the lettering on the keys wore off. I am going to buy a new one exactly like this, but before use I am going to put clear nail polish over the letters to help them stay on longer.
