Most Comfortable MS Ergonomic Keyboard Yet.

I love this keyboard. I've been using ergo keyboards for so long that I am unable to type on a standard board. This board is the most comfortable and best designed that I have ever used.

Since I started to use this ergonomic key board, the pain I had feeled has disappear. Keyboard is very important to our health, so spending a bit more money to keyboard is a good technique.

    Great keyboard

This is my all time favorite keyboard. Very comfortable, with a great wrist pad. The typing action is also great, very nicely balanced. Keys depress smoothly with just the right amount of resistance and feedback. The sound is also just right, the click is loud enough that you get good aural confirmation of key presses, but it's a very easy on the ears click, and not annoyingly loud. I use my keyboard 10+ hours a day, and there isn't any other I'd rather use.

Adequate Keyboard but Beware of Coffee

I worked with an older Logitech ergo keyboard for years and loved it. Got this to replace my iMac keyboard because of ulnar neuropathy. Much prefer the feel of the Apple keys, but what can you do. Ergo choices are very limited. The scroll wheel and all the extra buttons really didn't add much functionality, but that was irrelevant because I bought it for the improved hand position and on that front it was effective. I used it exclusively despite the cheap feel and noisy, slow, higher effort keys because it was easier on my hands and wrists. It was, I thought, a decent purchase. Right up until it met *about a teaspoon* of coffee one morning -- barely a dribble. That was all she wrote. The keys in the area where the spill occurred just stopped working. Unplugging it and letting it dry out did not help a bit. The MS website has no warranty info online for it either. It looks difficult to disassemble and despite web reports that most keyboards can be washed, this one has never recovered from that either. Immersion completely killed the rest of the keys. I'm back to using the Apple keyboard and wearing a brace and gel gloves. Someone needs to make a robust, quality ergo keyboard for the Mac.

    Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

Other than the ergonomic shape and key layout, this keyboard offers absolutely no notable features as compared to many much less expensive keyboards. I feel that it is overpriced by $20 to $30 except, sometimes, when it is on sale, and that Microsoft is, as usual, merely taking advantage of the Microsoft name in addition, in this case, to the terms "natural" and "ergonomic", in order to charge a non-value-based price. The "plug and playability" is convenient, as the keyboard will function adequately, at least on a Windows based system, without even installing the accompanying software. I would, however, recommend installing the software in order to achieve full functionality. There are, however two major physical defects. First, the letters and symbols on the keys are decals and they wear quickly. As this is the only decent keyboard my local store has for under $90 or so, I have now had 3 of them, and in each case I start losing key labels within less than 3 weeks, with the letter "E" the first to go and the "A" following closely behind. Second, there is something about the physical layout of the keys that causes me to hit Cap Lock, instead of Shift, all too often. This creates a lot of extra work when, as usually happens, I do not notice the problem until after a couple paragraphs or so of typing, especially in applications where I cannot do a simple mass change of case as can be done in Word. While I have this problem occasionally with other keyboards, both "regular" and "ergonomic", it is a once in a while thing. With this keyboard, it is a constant continuing problem. It also happens, with a lesser frequency but still more so than on any other keyboard, with the Control key, which REALLY messes up whatever it is I am doing at the time and often causes loss of whatever I had been inputting. This keyboard is in serious need of much more durable key labeling as well as either a physical layout redesign or a function allowing one to easily and quickly disable/enable the Cap Lock and Control keys, short of popping them off the keyboard.

My one complaint is related to the space bar. While most keys are soft and silent, the specs bar is loud and clunky!

I used this keyboard for a while when I was having some trouble with my wrists a while back. It's certainly odd to use at first but then you get used to it. Eventually, I switched to a fully mechanical keyboard and haven't looked back. If you are on the fence about buying this because of ergonomic issues, I would suggest you to rather buy a mechanical keyboard.
