I really like my new Microsoft - Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 - Black! Now this keyboard isn't for everyone as they must like the ergonomic design. With this being said, I enjoy using this keyboard as the fit is natural for me. I like the layout and how everything is spaced on the keyboard. All around great keyboard for those who like ergonomic keyboards. Note to buyers: If you ahven't used used this keyboard before please take a look at your local store(s) before buying as this isn't something you just pick up because it has the word "natural ergonomic keyboard" in it. I work in Information Technology and whenever someone wants this keyboard I take one out to them and have them try it while it is still in the plastic. Either those folks like it instantly or do not like it at all. Personal preference!

I an a writer of short stories and I also have arthritis so a standard keyboard becomes painful very quickly. I have had this keyboard for several years and have experienced no difficulty with it. It finally died and I replaced it with an identical one because I don't want to risk any problems. My only complaint is that the printing wore off the keys, but I guess that would probably happen to any keyboard used as much as mine is.

    The Only Keyboard for Me

I was an early adopter of the original Microsoft ergonomic keyboard many years ago, so there was no question in my mind that I’d opt for the latest model when I bought my new HP Envy 700-414 desktop computer system. Since much of my computer work involves writing and blogging, a good keyboard is essential, and this one does a great job for me. The many programmable function keys, media keys and other special buttons are a nice touch that add considerable utility, but I haven’t messed around with them much yet. Mine did not come with any documentation (except the obligatory warranty guide) or software, so I had to go to microsoft.com to get the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center software that explains how to set up the various functions. A minor annoyance, to be sure, but nothing unusual these days. I like the way this keyboard looks and works, which is not something I can always say about certain other Microsoft products. If you like the feel of an ergonomic keyboard, I’d say go for it.

I'm an independent author and do a lot of typing. This keyboard has been great! Keys pop nicely and it is well constructed. At one point with the flat keyboards my wrists were starting to ache. Since I have used this keyboard all of the discomfort has gone away.

I got this on clearance for $25; at that price, it was a no brainer. The negative tilt is great, and the multimedia keys are essential. The spacebar was very stiff when I first got it, but a month later and it actuates as easily as every other key. Two minor complaints: the location of the F-lock key makes it easy to accidentally hit at times, and I wish the function keys were full-size.

With the overabundance of wifi devices, we have more and more problems with Logitech wireless keyboards and mice. I've switched back to wired for the most part and this is one of them. After a couple years the cover on the wrist padding and print on the keys will wear out, but keyboard keeps working. Ergonomic design does take a little getting used to and can be annoying the first couple weeks till your brain adjusts. I liked it well enough I bought a couple spares, when they were on sale. One caveat, do NOT get them wet. Regular keyboards will dry out and work again, usually. Not this type. Instead of individual key switches, it uses plastic membranes, like in cheap touch controls. When water gets between the membranes, it's toast, short of taking it apart and carefully cleaning everything.
