My prior experience was only on pc with versions up to Windows 7. I like some of the new features. Looking forward to becoming more proficient with Windows 8 and then on to Windows 10.

What ever happened to straightforward menus?

Switching to Office 2013 from the version I had on my XP machine proved to be quite a chore. I got used to the menu structures in the old version and could navigate it very quickly. 2013 is like a completely different program. Menu ribbons aren't menus - sorry Microsoft. User experience is about not forcing old dogs to learn new tricks with every version change. There should be a configuration optio to allow "traditional" menus.

Without it your ability to look professional and be organized is limited. no more "read only" problems and with my windows phone to match I can easily keep it all together with the One Drive.

Its the last persistent version of Microsoft Office. If you don't want to pay a subscription fee, get this. If you want to stay up-to-date with Microsoft Office, get Office 365. If you don't want to pay for office software at all, get LibreOffice, OpenOffice, or use Google Docs.

What can you say about the product most of the country uses to write reports, do power points and so on. It is what it is. We don't really combine all the features into one document so that makes it easy to use. But if I did, I would need to buy a new copy of ____ for Dummy's since Microsoft likes to change things around and my last class was in the early 2000's.

We purchased a new Dell Inspirion with Windows 8 and this program came with our purchase. It is taking time to get use to. We had an older Dell Inspirion with Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007. This newer program is a little trickier to get use to using. Overall it gets the job done, but if you are not familiar with the program (like us) it does take longer and it can be very frustrating to create, edit and print documents.

Overall, this is a good word processing program. Sometimes, I have to search for tools or functions that, I think, should be easier to access. I bought the program when I bought my computer and paid to have it installed, but unfortunately, it was not installed properly. It took awhile for me to get this problem resolved. It worked fine once it was installed properly.
