Posted .Hello Steve, Office 2016 is installed directly to your PC just like traditional Office and you do not need an internet connection to use it. The only difference is you install it by downloading it directly from Microsoft instead of using a CD. We hope this was helpful to you.

Lost my home copy when tech repair person cleaned the system and computer finally died. I do feel Microsoft has made it harder for casual user (especially retired person on budget) to have Office. Bought this because I was able to use "new computer" discount and use a gift card.
