Microsoft Office - Industry Standard

I does everything I need for word processing, publishing technical papers, making presentations, and of course the spreadsheet software, which I couldn't live without. My only complaint is that every time I upgrade my operating system, I have to buy a new version of Office. Since it's a Microsoft product, it should be compatible with earlier versions of Windows, just like my other software.
