The whole Office 365 is quite annoying to me with the updates with connecting to the subscription online and etc. But this, it is what I remember. Just what you need for a Master's Thesis and no hassle. I had the Geek Squad install it on my new computer for me and it works without a hitch. Best bang for your buck for what most people need in my opinion.

The only improvement I would ever add is a tutorial on basic usage for excel and powerpoint.

I was thinking about buying one, since I haven't owned one after leaving school. The last one I bought was 2007, when I was in school, the student version for $50 I think? I used Office 2007 for about 8 years. I plan to use this laptop for another at least 6 years. If I pay yearly, I will pay more in total. I hope Microsoft will still have this kind of one time version in the future. For a family or small business use, it's good enough.

We have so far only used Word and Excel, but they worked very good for what we need. Perfect for a family just needing the basics.
