Thought I could get away with monthly microsoft subscriptions and cancelling it when I'm out of school. But honestly, that just adds up and it's not worth it, especially if you forget, and then it's more expensive than the one time purchase. Just buy this, and don't worry about it.

I don't expect to upgrade any time soon, other than with an upgrade in laptop, of course, where fairly forced to go to Office 365 at that point.

This is one time fee downloadable software and it links to you Live account. In the event you need to reinstall it, all you have to do is login to your live account and download it from there. No endless monthly subscription fees.
