I personally like buying and owning software instead of having to pay monthly or yearly subscription fees and constantly updating (cough, cough Adobe). A good option if you’re upgrading your Mac to Catalina and have Microsoft Office 2011, which is incompatible with the new OS.

I also recommend getting the 'life-time' version vs the 'annual subscription' version. It costs more initially, but well worth it in the long run. I write articles for a blog and use a lot of pictures, and the Microsoft Word program works great for this purpose.

Needed up grade on one to Windows 10 and transfer of files from AIO to lap top. They found my hard drive slow to handle Windows 10 on my AIO and suggested upgrade which they explained would wipe out word. My AIO is tens years old and they made it work for me better than the day it was new.. Great job and service with a smile.

I just have reservations about ever needing to transfer it to another device. It would be nice to have a disc backup. What if, what if, what if, heaven forbid I lose my internet and all is lost and I can't get back up images of my hard drive, etc.? I do live in a tropical region prone to giant storms. I'd like to have a backup that doesn't require internet if everything takes a salt water bath.

Easy to use, these well-known apps support word processing, work with spreadsheets, and preparation of presentations. Classic, but still the go-to for many . . . it's familiar, it’s easy to set up on your computer, and it doesn't incur monthly subscription fees.
