Does what's expected.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's face it, you need a headset, and this is better than the off-brand headsets. I had my first one for about 2 years and now this new one for one. The only reason I am replacing it is because my dog chewed through the wires. To be honest the only thing I don't like about this mic is that microsoft redesigned it from the 1st gen mic that had the volume and mute controls at the base of where it plugs into the controller. The redesigned ones have the controls on the cord and is awkward to find sometimes. Treat your equipment well and your equipment will return the favor.

An Okay Mic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lot of people give a 1-3 star review for a small think that is wrong with their mic. For me i have 2 wired mics. the sound quality is decent for $20. Every now and then your xbox live pals will tell you that you're either cutting out or going all static. a simple unplug and replug fixes things. I often times accidentally rip the plug out of the controller which is a pain in the rear. i wish Microsoft would make the cord a foot or so longer.

Review from a MOM of 2 boys!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a $45.00 head set and it started falling apart 6mos later. The biggest problem was ... when you have the ones that cover the ears, they can't hear you calling them OR the phone ringing OR the doorbell. This headset at least allows them to hear things going on around them. Is it the BEST head set out there? NO, i'm sure its not! BUT when i call my kids for dinner... THEY HEAR ME! plus its not expensive. so, when they break it? its usually, birthday time or xmas, easter. guess what they are getting? hahaah yep! another one!

Good for a while...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my Xbox 360 headset for about 5-7 months now and it finally broke. The problem was I could talk to people, but i couldn't hear them. After opening the ear piece up I noticed one of the wires came loose, because it was not connected correctly. Overall it is great if you are willing to treat it with respect. Another thing I did not like, is the fact that sometimes, if the volume button rubs against your shirt, it will turn all the way down. It was really great for the run.

What you pay for.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've ha this headset for about 9 months now and I haven't had any problems. Mine only broke because I stepped on it because it was underneath a pair of pants, snapped the part above the speaker off but it was nothing that duct tape (woot) couldn't fix. I have some problems hearing other players over my TV and music while I play, but that isn't the headsets fault. Other than that you get what you pay for, fits nicely, good range of adjustment, does the job. Unless you are throwing your controller down every time you get killed in your favorite FPS or lose a game in madden or lose a race in your favorite driving game you shouldn't have any problems with the end piece breaking....

Worth the money, not that bad?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look, don't lie guys. If you abuse the headset it's not gonna last as long as it should. My friend had his first headset for 2 years now. I've gone through about 5. The new headsets (The black ones) look alot nicer I just got mine. They are more flexible and thicker. The foam on the part the goes on your ear is more cushion-y too. Xbox mic's really are worth 20$. If you can't afford 20$ play without one. And if it breaks ... it's called a receipt. I like 1 ear-side headphones way better than both ears too.

Lesser of the evils...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, since the original XBOX, microsoft has at least come up with a tougher controller. I went through at least 5 XBOX controllers. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of this headset for the 360. I'm about to buy #4. The same thing has failed in all -- the wire wears out around the plug. Having stripped it down to try to repair one, I know that they use that fragile wire that looks like nylon strands with a very thin copper coating (not actually braided copper) that just kind of flakes off if you try to twist it. That being said, I keep buying this one. I don't want a wireless that I'd have to recharge all the time.. I don't want an earbud-type, as that gets uncomfortable, and reviews suggest the other wired mics don't work well. You can actually just plug any old cellphone headset into your 360 controller, so it might be worth trying out a few of those as well.

Gets the job done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're wondering why i gave it 5 stars for value for price, it's because i got them with my xbox. yea well i've had them for about 9 months and they finally broke so they worked, just not that well. With a better connection you can hear better but with a bad connection there almost useless. If you need to buy headphones, buy good reviewed headphones for like 10 bucks more. oh and by the way, if you don't have xbox live, YOU DON'T EVEN NEED HEADPHONES IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See you on xbox live! Peace Out!

Eh,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cord on the headset that came with my 360 got cut and I got another to replace it. After cutting the package into little pieces, (one of those annoying plastic ones) I found out that it was not the same kind that came with my 360. The on/off/volume thing that goes into the controler is gone and is instead on the wire about 8 in down. When I clip it to my shirt the extra 4 in or so hangs in front of my face. Not a big deal, but the buttons on the controller were much better, easy to change with ur thumb, instead, you have to find it on the cord which is rather long, and hard to do with one hand. If you need to buy a replacement, make sure it has the same connector, not a regular headphone connector. I hope I can still return it for store credit :(

Breaks fast
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've gone through at least three of these in the last two years. They break really easily. After three months or so, for me, I would lose the ability to talk and would only be able to listen to my friends talk. It gets annoying to having to send messages to my friends saying mic mic doesn't work, every time I'm invited to a party. The quality is OK overall. The sound gets really bad when more than one person talks. Sometimes it doesn't pick up my voice when I talk and other times it picks up annoying background noises. The mic does serve its purpose of communicating with people online though. As far as the pricing goes, I think they could go down to 10 or 15 dollars due to the durability and quality. The good thing about the mic is how easy it is to use. Just plug it in to your controller and then you can talk to your friends.

Better than what others say
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not sure why the other reviews for this product are so negative toward it. I've had no problems with it so far; I've had mine for 4 months+. Everyone is saying that their headset snaps easy, is uncomfortable, and gets an annoying buzzing sound. The only thing I've encountered out of the ones listed was the snapping; my sister stepped on my first headset and it snapped. That's a lot of weight put onto it. Go figure :/ I don't feel that the headset is uncomfortable. It fits just fine. The only problem is that it pushes down my hair and keeps it down, but that's what I get for gaming 3 hours straight with it on :D As for the buzzing, one of my friends has had this problem. That's probably because he doesn't know how to take care of his Xbox 360 accessories. None of my headsets has EVER had this noise and most likely NEVER will. The trick is to put up your stuff when your not using it, and to not abuse them. Having all this said, I recommend this item to the average gamer and hardcore gamers alike. Just don't leave it on the ground for your sister to step on!

not the headset you may think
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this headset is almost the same as the one that comes with your xbox except the volume control isnt on the area you plug into the controler its on the wire. its also harder to ajust the volume. the headset comes out of the controler often to because there is a small area that goes in.

Good price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's so great about this headset is the price. I got my Xbox 360 Elite September 5th, 2009. It came with this headset, [except in black of course] and I've still been using it to this day. [2/1/10] Now, I hear alot from friends how easy they are to step on. But in my oppinion, if you keep it in a safe place, it'll last alot longer. Just don't leave it on your floor, it's as simple as that.

OK For the Casual Gamer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've gone through about 3 of these since i got XBOX Live back in April 2008. It's a cheap headset that's good for the casual gamer. If you play LIVE every once in a while just for fun, you won't mind this headset. However, if you are a more hardcore gamer that plays FPS games, I would recommend a Turtle Beach headset.

Sub-par performer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Price-The price of this headset is pretty much the only positive point for this item. While it may be possible to find a mic with the 2.5MM input used for Xbox Live Communication for cheaper, it will most likely be of an even worse quality than this, or else of an in-ear design. Quality-Despite the fact that the Xbox 360 provides an excellent gaming experience, the products of the line are notorious for their bad build quality, and this headset is partly the culprit. In total, i have had seven of these headsets, counting both versions, and they have all broke. If you have a big head, or arent the most careful with your stuff, your headset will be apt to simply break at the headband. As well, no matter how you treat it, your headset may often just simply stop working, often for no distinguishable reason. Recently, when i went on vacation, i left my headset in a drawer alone. When i came back, it had stopped working. Comfort-While it wont win any awards, this headset is still fairly comfortable. Overall-Overall, this headset is good for casual gamers who rarely play. But, if you are a more active gamer, you may wish to go for something like the Turtle Beach X1's (you can find them in my reviews), which not only provide a better voice quality, but also work as a full sterio headset for both the Xbox 360 and the PC, which retails for $59.99. Of course, if you are a very dedicated gamer, a pair of Turtle Beach X4's can be purchased for around $200.

Okay Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first 360 Headset Lasted me a Very long time, but, you know, nothing lasts forever. When I got a new headset with my Subscription bundle, it snapped in half right away. Just take this advice: The headset is pretty delicate, so when you get a new one be very careful stretching it to put it on your head (it can easily break in half). Just be carefull with it the first few days until it is a little bit more flexible, and then you can do whatever you want. I just got a new one a month ago, and it still works fine. Also, put it on a table or something when you are done if you have a pet, cause they could possibly tear the cord, (happened to me). Overall its not perfect, but if you r careful, it will last you a long time.

Who needs Turtle Beeches?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is set at at great price and you simply just plug it in the controller and you can hear other people on Xbox live perfectly. I still would like a good headset, but if you just want to talk to your friends, this headset is the right choice for only $19.99!

A decent headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset is good for what it is. If you are going to play games online, then you have to have a headset. No one likes playing with the person who doesn't have a mic and cannot effectively help their team. Sorry it is the truth. This particular headset does the job well and will not set you back to much to get it either. The only problems with this headset lie in its design. The mic has to be in just the right position or it does not pick up your voice. You will feel pretty silly when you realize this and you have been talking to yourself for the last several minutes because no one else can hear you. Furthermore, I take issue with the pad on the mic. It can come off and get lost really easily (I have had it happen once already). I this happens it will still work but your voice quality will not be as good and people might have a hard time understanding you. The only other drawback is the cord that goes from the headset to the controller. It has gotten in the way on more than a few occasions. I will say this though, the thing can take a beating. So why do I recommend it? It's simple really, if you are going to play online, you need a mic and this is the best one you will get for the price.
