Not so great, but ok for budgets

Well I had a headset like this ( except black ) for a long time, about 1-2 years, but it just broke and I had to write this review to warn other people not to buy this. This headset is easy to setup but the headset has super bad sound quality, I can't really hear my friends that well and my voice echoes too. When it was just about to break, I couldn't hear my friends and all I heard was split second parts of their voice until eventually I couldn't hear anything, and i texted them to ask if their mic was broken and they said they could hear me just fine. This headset had been my first one, but I asked some friends what kind of headset I should get, and I'm thinking about getting a Tritton or a Turtle Beach, I haven't decided yet, but remember that the higher the price, the better the headset.

Works great for a year but then needs replacing.

First, they need to make this available in black for us Elite owners. I can only replace mine with a white one even though my console and controllers are black. Microsoft needs to improve the quality of the connection where it meets with the controller. Mine has worn out right at 13 months. Bottom Line: This is an essential accessory if you use XBOX Live. I never had problems with my mic when it worked and the volume level is satisfactory. You can spend more money on expensive units but if you need a capable set on the cheap this is an ok option. I would recommend to my friends.

It Does What it supposed to

Its fragile be aware, take care of it you'll be fine, it does what it is supposed to no one can complain. There is really no point in spending 60-100 dollars on a microphone, when you have one like this. Also all headsets are bound to break so again whats the point of spending a lot of money on it, in this time. Again just be careful take care of your property don't fling it around or step on it

It is designed well and does what I wanted it to do. I could be a little more durable and comfortable but it's not too bad.

the stock headphones with the system are always weak. these aren't that good. the only good points to make about these are the weight and flexibility. otherwise, try to look elsewhere. they will however get you by if you are on a budget.

    This headset isn't worth $6.

I purchased one of these headsets a few months back and within weeks it broke. It has a problem of not sending your voice consistently and so everyone else will just not be able to hear half of what you're saying. My sister bought this same headset and had the same problems with it shortly after buying it. If you wiggle the wire just right where it connects to the controller it'll work for a while... as long as you don't move your controller/wire.... which... isn't really feasible while playing a game. I bought a generic headset for $8 online about a year ago and it's still working fine, whereas this M$ one died within weeks.

    Say what?

For a while I was using my kinect to talk to friends online and any Xbox guy knows that it gets a annoying after a while. Bought the headset and out the box they looked very cheap and felt like they were made with cheap material. I placed them on my head and connected to my controller. They worked great but when you would move the cable you will hear static as if it was not connecting properly. Also microsoft placed a filter in the mic so the reason for this was to get rid of any noises in the background. So now you have to talk louder for the mic to work properly. Not a great thing if it's late at night and you wake up people for yelling. I recommend just to save your money and buy some decent headphones and invest into some turtle beach.

These headsets are ok for the casual gamer. If you want a quality product that will last i suggest a wireless headset or a pelican headset. These end up breaking within 2-3 weeks if you use it frequently.

I got this headset when I bought my console and it was a good headset. I never had any voice issues and it was easy to use. The cord was a bit annoying at times thought. One day I got mad at a game and threw it and it broke so I decide to buy the wireless one. The twenty dollar price is good on it though.

I have a toddler at home, so this was probably a bad pickup in the first place. Anyway, lasted just over 2 1/2 months before giving up the ghost. I had a wireless for about 3 years before that started taking a charge and thought this would be a cheap replacement. Cheap was correct. I will be picking up a new headset soon, not sure if I'll go with the wireless again (since I had pretty good luck with it before) or if I'll go with a higher quality wired. Just don't waste your $20 on this, definitely not worth it.

These headphones serve their purpose but they do not last that long. I'm on my 2nd set in 2 months. Not much else can be done since there are not many options in this area.

    Good mic

Bought a 2nd mic for my xbox 360 from best buy in either 2010 or 2011 after my first mic went bad. I play while laying down on my bed and having the control against my stomach caused the chord to bend, ruining the first headset I had. Fortunately, the one I bought from best buy has lasted me and so I have no complaints with that.

Poor Quality. Lasts about 5 months if lucky

Went through 4 of these in about 6 months. After a while the speakers stop working as the wire is so cheaply made it cracks inside and shorts out. Very poor quality for a Microsoft product.

    Ok headset...

This headset is okay, but it doesn't last long at all. I had to replace my first one within a few months, and right now I'm already looking for a new one. It does do its job pretty good though (while it lasts). The sound quality you hear is mediocre. Lately, people have been telling me that it makes an annoying humming noise, and I've only had this one for maybe 3 months. So if all you have in your wallet right now is $20 and you don't mind buying another mic regularly go ahead and buy it. If you got some money and hate having to constantly replace something, save up to buy a more reliable headset.

    Poor For Most Gamers

This headset comes with the Core Xbox 360, and is pretty poor. It is comfortable for some, but not comfortable for others. The microphone sometimes does not pickup normally and will sometimes make weird noises when trying to communicate. It tends to break, stop working, or just make a buzzing soung anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months, even when taken good care of. The wireless microphone lasts 3 times longer and is overall better but also costs 3 times more.

i first got this headset a few months ago and about a week in, i picked it up off my table and put it on my head. then it snapped completly in half. the only reason i keep getting these is because i got one as a gift and i bought a 60 gig hardrive that included it. and they have all snapped within the first month or so. i would just save up money for a turtle beach headset or atleast something more sturdy. instead of waisting money on this.
