Great purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have really grown to love my surface book. After reading online reviews I was sold on the concept but once I got it in my hands I realized there was a lot potential than I had before thought. Smooth, fast running, and user friendly. Definitely recommend.

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.P previously I have had a Lenovo IdeaPad, that I would use for my online class. The IdeaPad was alright but I couldn't I put the Notepad on the TV, as far as projector screens go. With the surface I'm still having issues, but I think I can get around that. Also with my online class we need to be able to watch live video as a teacher is streaming live during class, with the IdeaPad it would like freeze up sometimes because I'm doing this for three hours at a time daily comma. But with the Surface Book Pro or Surface Book it held up like a champ for all the class issues the things that I used to have problems with I don't anymore except for the same issue, projecting the computer screen, or what is on the computer screen comma to the TV. I give the Surface Book a four out of five star rating. I recommend this for any student that is taking online courses.

Great overall value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a student I find the size and functionality of the device to be a huge plus. It's pretty light weight in comparison to others of similar screen dimension. The fact that it doubles as a tablet increases the variety of ways in which it can be used (screen can be totally detached from keyboard, or screen turned 180 degrees and flipped into a tent so it sits upright and you don't have to physically hold when using as a tablet). The notebook app allowed me to take notes with the stylus and organize them by sections, variety of color coding options, multiple writing thickness or thinness options, etc. enhanced organizational effectiveness. The display is satisfactory, the touch screen is quite responsive, although if you begin switching back and forth between lap top and tablet functions repeatedly in the *same sitting* the touch screen may become unresponsive and usually requires a power down/power up to get it back just FYI. My only minor, and perhaps picky thing I would mention is I have found other keyboards and mouse pads I've preferred over this. To me the keys on the keyboard are a bit lower profile than I like (full disclosure I have larger hands than the average person, so maybe a more petite handed person would find this less problematic) and seem to make more typos due to this and then the mouse pad clicks a bit louder than I like, but if you're in class or what not you can always use touch screen, or stylus as alternative to clicking mousepad. The battery life on this is hugely superior to other lap tops I've worked with and lasts far longer. If fully charged, I can usually go *at least* a couple to a few days before ever recharging it again. The lap top power up is quite speedy also, and has convenient face recognition sign on option. Other small thing to note: *occasionally* when switching between different wifi networks the adapter function within wifi setting becomes disabled and requires it to be reset, it was irritating the first time it occurred as I had to figure out the fix searching the Internet via my cellphone, but ultimately determined this is a common/known issue with this Microsoft device and would presume with newer editions it would be resolved...but really it's not that difficult to circumvent the issue and get reconnected to wifi once you identify the problem and reset adaptor setting. I usually only use high speed internet, but the computer itself seems to be quite adequate with regard to speed-no complaints in that department and I'm not the most patient person so take that for what it's worth. I do not use it for gaming, and don't believe this device is geared towards that, so I really can't speak with much authority on whether gaming would be doable or not. All in all the device has been great, I really felt as though I researched others on the market that were comparable with regard to memory, speed, battery life, etc. and the price point on it was better than similar devices. This was definitely the biggest bang for your buck type of product. I've overall been very satisfied and if 4.5 stars was possible I'd rank it as such, as the smaller minor drawbacks have little significance in my overall happiness with the product. Would definitely recommend.

It has been fun getting to know it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is really more computer than I need but I couldn't resist it. I'm glad I've got it and it has been fun to get to know it. If you have a basic understanding of windows you can navigate around. I've had problems with the pen, causing an app I have to use for my job, to make a page bigger than I want with the slightest tap to the screen. Otherwise I love it.

Not quite ready for prime time.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a tablet that would let me run my Windows 3d-image processing software, which led me to the Surface Book. After attempting to bond with it for about 3 weeks, I've come to view it as a machine that is neither fish nor fowl: lacking, both as a tablet and as a laptop. First, what I like about it: The battery life, when the keyboard (where the 2nd battery lives) is attached is outstanding, giving me 12-14 hours of operathon; the screen resolution is superb, matching that of my friends macs. My complaints, I think are mostly (though not entirely) with the software: As a tablet, it lets you get into situation you can't escape from without reattaching the keyboard in "laptop position"...for example, I was viewing an image in full screen mode and the application locked up; I could get to the virtual keyboard, but it had no "Esc" key, so I couldn't get to a touch control that would let me exit the application. As a laptop, I spent more hours on tech-support calls and filing bug reports than I cared to, starting with trying to get my LaserJet printer to work: Win10 automatically loaded the wrong driver, which behaved like it was the correct driver, except you needed some other program on the network to print to it before the page(s) I sent to it from the Surface Book would print; two hours on-line with a tech support person somewhere did not resolve it; it took another 2 hours of trial and error on the HP site to find a driver that functioned properly. The laptop keyboard is really inadequate for anything but simple texting tasks: having the Home, End, PgUP and PgDn sharing the function keys I've found to be a pain. There is not much in it but a battery & the attachment logic, so I don't understand why they couldn't find room. I had to buy a mouse: the touchpad & pen being inadequate to the task of drawing a square frame around an image in a program that doesn't let you change the frame size after you first draw it...an exercise in futility that could have been avoided by retaining the traditional L/R buttons. I've thought about returning it, but have decided to keep it for on-line exercises like this & for viewing videos...it will also be my only Windows 10 machine for a long while yet until MS wrings the bugs out & fixes some of the interface short comings.

Great So Far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had the 8GB/128GB SSD SurfaceBook for about two months now, and I'm loving it so far. Screen is incredibly sharp, and I love the convenience of popping out the tablet when I feel like it. Thought I might be annoyed with pressing the button to unlock the tablet after playing with it in the store, but really works pretty well when you get used to it. The stylus is surprisingly functional as well though I generally use the touchscreen more. Performance of the machine has been great though I can't say I'm pushing it to it's boundaries at the moment, but battery life has been good as well. Went back and forth with this and the different MacBook models but with good port options and the tablet screen, glad I went with the SurfaceBook so far.

Puts MacBook Pro to shame
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent PC. Screen is stunning and the speed is very good. Microsoft really needs to start putting a focus on more apps in the store though. Only reason I gave four stars was the price, this is still an expensive model like the Apple product.

Best of breed 2 in 1!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best 2 in 1 around! Excellent power and battery life. Light, portable, and flexible. Awesome touch screen and pen input. I own and use Apple devices and this, for most tasks, runs circles around them for less money.

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing product, I advise buying the version with the dGPU if you're into rendering and running heavy programs or gaming. If not then I think the Surface Pro may be a better option. Nonetheless, I enjoy this machine and do recommend it

Surface book
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Second one I bought for family. Great lap top with tablet detach. They hit a horn run with this. Thought I would use tablet more but keyboard plus touch screen is very productive. Only negative is I don’t like the power connection. If cord twists it’s a little annoying to attach. But over all excellent machine

First Windows PC in ages!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Macbook Air finally gave up the ghost ... so the quest for a new laptop began. I looked at the new Macbook Pro and, while nice, was way too expensive and for me way to thin. Plus, I hated the keyboard. So I decided perhaps now was the time to look at a Windows laptop. Looked at the HP Spectre and the Lenovo Yoga 910, but they just weren't up to the Apple standards. But when I seriously began to look at the Surface Book I knew I found my computer. I have been so impressed with this computer and WIndows 10. It has performed flawless and I love the detachable keyboard and touch screen. I got a great price on this computer during the holidays as well. Overall I am extremely impressed with the Surface Book.

It's simply the best laptop ever made.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure what else can be said. It's the best screen, the best battery life, the best functioning and looking laptop there is. I've had crApples, Alienware, HP, Lenovo, Dell's pretty much everything. I've never had to send in for repairs or warranty work, it's never failed me and I use and abuse it all over the country for work, graphic editing, light gaming and streaming\watching movies on the laptop and sync'd to my smart tv's... 11\10 Already pre-ordered the next gen but still keeping this one due to the 2-in-1 tablet mode which is awesome on the go.
