I got this surface book by suggestion of my daughter, I'm an apple user but thought I'd try something different. This laptop seems like it would be good if you knew what you were doing and how to navigate everything. It's frustrating for me trying to learn something new. I do love how you can pop the screen off and make it a tablet and that you can use the pen that comes with it to write with or use on the screen instead of your finger. Once I get the hang of it I'm sure I will like it better. The color and sound are really good as well.

I had my Surface Pro 3 for just a year before upgrading to the Surface Pro Book. The Pro was very portable, I'll admit - and that is my one critique of the Pro Book. It's marketed as a tablet like the Surface Pro 3 ... but here's the truth. The Surface Pro is a TABLET that you can click a keyboard into and run normal software on a full OS, and the Surface Pro Book is a LAPTOP that you can you like a tablet if you want, but really functions as a full-functionality portable computer. The Pro Book is very light, looks sleek, and (FINALLY) Microsoft embraced the nice, glossy, one-button touchpad we've seen on Macbook Pros for years. The touchscreen is beautiful, and doesn't waste a lot of room on a frame - it's all screen, people. When pulled off of the base, the touchscreen can function as a tablet, but it's the size of a letter size notepad, so if you're like me and prefer to take notes on/use a tablet that is about the size of a standard iPad it feels awkward and large for that purpose. I honestly prefer to just keep it in and use the Book as a laptop. Regardless of how you choose to use it, I've had my Book now for a while and it's clean, convenient, light, and the battery lasts hands-down the longest of any computer I've ever had. I recommend this bad boy 100%

Responsive touch and stylus. Battery life has been exceptional both when combined and when the screen is used as a tablet. Outstanding screen.

I'm a huge fan of stylus based tech. When my galaxy note 7 was recalled, I decided to get the surface book. The device is light weight, boots very quickly, and oh yeah, it has a stylus that magnetically attaches to the side of the screen wall. It detaches easily with the push of a button on the keyboard, or you can touch the "detach" icon on the taskbar. The speakers are really loud, and the iris scanner works very quickly. I use it to write notes on book, docs, etc. It works well as a laptop and a tablet.

The pencil is great too bad can not shave like a real one. Little disappointed on 3D drawings and portrait. Photo presentation is extremely sharp and color correction is very close (out from the box). Also I used for photoshop . Very nice laptop.

      Hi Clem,

We're sorry to hear that the Surface Book has fallen short of your needs for 3D drawings and portraits. Otherwise, we're really glad to hear that you're getting a lot out of your Surface Book. If you're still looking for a way to "sharpen" your Surface Pen, you can always try a smaller pen tip in available in our tip set!

      Kindly,

      Victoria

This has been a great laptop. The battery life is good, especially when the monitor is connected to the keyboard. I also like that you can reverse the screen and close it so that the keyboard is covered (unlike the other devices in this category that expose the keyboard when the screen is rotated all the way over). This gives you a tablet experience with the full processing power and battery life. And, for those that like the tablet experience, taking the screen off and continuing to work always seems to impress that crowd.

Not happy with the Geek Squad. Ask for help for help with creating a recovery disk. They were going to charge me $40.00 to help out. Sorry I bought a 2 year program. Would not recommend them to anyone.

I am very pleased with the Surface Book I recently purchased. When it comes to screen display I am very picky and the Surface Book beats competitors by far. Battery on the Surface Book is plenty sufficient for the average user. While doing casual streaming online I can easily get between 8 to 10 hours. Surfaces are on the more pricey side when it comes to laptops, but the saying is true when they say you get what you pay for. Very much recommended for those willing to make the investment.
