Software has issues too quick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was given my laptop as a gift and since I’ve has computers before with no issues for years I figured I had no need for warranty, a year and a half and I have issues with the software and the computer needs to be replaced but it’s going to cost $599 because I have no warranty purshased. Oh and the one they are replacing it with only has 90 days of warranty. First Microsoft I buy and honesty the last. I’ve had years with no issues on all my other laptops and computers and this one is the newest and has to be replaced with a big fee.

Very nice with some quirks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very nice laptop; however, I had to return it because of the issues I found over the two weeks I had it for. Well, it is a first generation product and usually they get it right later so I will probably consider it when the second or third version is out. The Good It is a beautiful computer and it is pleasure to use. It has a very crisp, high resolution display; nice sound but can be better. The touch screen is very responsive. The pen is alright but I haven't played with it that much. The keyboard is good but requires a little more force than I would like. The trackpad is nice but still lags behind Macbook Pro's so it is more like the previous generation of MBP. The combined battery life is good--there are two batteries one in the base and one in the tablet. Windows 10 is a awesome, very beautiful, easy to use, compatible with common old style applications if needed. If you use Cortana make sure you understand the privacy terms and what Microsoft collects about you and how they use your data. What can be improved Fix the issues, see below for details; make the speakers louder, perhaps add speakers to the base in addition to the tablet's. Improve the tablet battery life. The Issues I updated Windows and the drivers; still I had issues. Often, while using Edge which is actually a nice browser, it becomes not responsive and then I got an error message about the video driver. One time the mouse wasn't responsive at all, dead, so I restarted and it worked again. What did it for me is that one time while listening to iTunes music, I got the blue screen of death, the new style of which.

Dead in 9 months

Thankfully I have carbonate because I discovered that there is no way to get to the hard drive on this computer.

Underwhelmed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched multiple sights for this product for 4 months. Upon opening it out of the box, the camera never booted. I kept getting an error message. I called geek squad and they told me to bring on it and they would fix it. I packed it up and took it to the refund desk. The lady turned it on and it was the black screen of death. The keyboard lights were on but the screen never came on. For almost 2k.... I refunded the product and will not get this again. I'm not a max fan at all, but I might be after this purchase!

Not pleased with purchase so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was extremely happy to have one of the latest laptops on the market, yet from day one I've had issues with it. From software updates to the laptop freezing up and/or not turning on at all. Some techs say, the bugs haven't been worked out with the laptop itself and even windows 10 may also have some issues too. I'm hopeful that all is well when I do get my laptop back from being serviced -- in the meantime work has to wait.

Worst laptop I ever owned!!!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned several laptops over the years. This one came highly recommended but was a HUGE disappointment. It lived at home and had a very gentle life. It died just shy of 2 years after purchase. Battery went bad and wouldn't recharge. And battery wasn't replaceable. Would have cost more to repair than it cost. Avoid this one at all costs!!!

Very Upset
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my Surface Pro in February of 2017 and as of 07/23/2017 my Surface Pro no longer functions as the screen will not turn on. There had been some slight issues up to this date but I thought it was just trying to adjust to the room lighting. Also had multiple issues with freezing up throughout my ownership of this product. Not something I will ever purchase again.

Terrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kept freezing and shutting off. I contacted Microsoft and they convinced me to keep it and try all kinds of updates. After that didn't work, they wanted me to send it to them I wanted to return. it and get something else but it was too late. They sent me a "new" one but I haven't even bothered with it. Biggest waste of money.

Overpriced piece of junk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This pricey little piece of equipment was a huge disappointment. The keyboard quit working after one year. I tried all of the recommendations, but nothing worked. I even tried resetting it to factory settings. Now windows is gone and it is completely useless.

TOO FRAGILE
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the Surface Pro 4 less than a month and the screen has already broken. Yes, it had a short fall, but other laptops (less pricey laptops) I've had have survived much, much worse. Called the store and they said it would be cheaper to buy a whole new unit than to repair this one. What the!!!

Not Mac user friendly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Editing in Notebook: toolbars come and go, can't find editing basics, no pull down menus. Mouse over info is irrelevant. Exploring the apps is difficult because of the above. I have a default browser but when asking for help it doesn't use it. Help isn't in a toolbar, hard to search PC.

The ultimate laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2 weeks ago my HP completely stopped working on me. I knew it was time for me to get a new laptop but I wasn't fully decided on what I was going to get. I did a lot of research about the Surface Book before it even came out, but the price put me off a bit. When I went to Best Buy I looked at all of their computers. None of them compared to the Surface Book. I knew it was the laptop for me. I chose the lowest version because I am a college student and have no need for all that storage. The size of this computer is perfect. It isn't too big and isn't too small. The design is beautiful. The detachable screen is very convenient for me when I am taking notes in class. I only have two very small things I don't like: the headphone jack is at a very awkward place and it is difficult to open the laptop at times. These two complaints are very small in my opinion. This really is an amazing laptop and I would suggest it to anyone. It is 100% worth the price.
