Surface Book best laptop ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surface Book is an incredible product! I buy a new laptop every year or so and the Surface Book is by far my favorite. Here's why: -Fast. I got the cheapest I3 model and it is blazing fast. Opens office programs instantly, webpages load instantly. -True 8 hour battery life. -Super light weight, can carry it in my bag and my bag is so light! -Detach the surface from keyboard and you have a massive tablet, so much bigger than an iPad pro. But I keep it attached most of the time.

Speedy & Sleek laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is AMAZING. It's incredibly fast and effective in all programs you use, big or small. The graphics are also beautiful. Pen is great and so is the double camera feature to recognize your face (SO COOL). Also, I'm sure this is one of the only laptops (if not the only one - idk...I'm not a laptop expert :) ) that has a camera on the front so you can take photos of lectures/presentations, which is amazing. I am in love with how the keyboard types and how it lights up. The tablet/laptop feature is also amazing. The only reason why I didn't rate it 5 starts is because it doesn't have an HDMI port! Which is actually an annoyance to me since I do a lot of presentations in school, so this is a slight flaw. I know you can buy converters, but still... Anyways, this laptop is DEFINITELY worth the money, especially if you're a student and need reliability.

Didn't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera did not work out of the box and it was brand new. I had to do several reboots. For this much money i thought it should just work. I took it back to the store.

Microsoft Game-Changer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had some trepidation switching from Mac to Windows, but that went away within a half hour of using this baby. First, the touch screen is simply amazing. Using the pen with OneNote has completely changed the way I take notes and study for class. Moreover Windows 10 runs like a champ, and looks incredibly sleek while doing so. Crucially for me, Windows has plently of features that made it easy to switch all my Apple-based content to Windows (contacts, calendars, etc.). Maybe most importantly, I have received more compliments than I count about how freakin cool this computer is.

Awesome!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is so awesome. I had a 2 in 1 before this one but needed something a little smaller and more portable. This fits all my needs. I go to school so the ease of note taking with the pen is awesome. It's also not that heavy and the battery life on the book over the pro 4 is worth the extra money.

Great alternative to the MacBook Air
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface Book is very light and portable, the battery life is amazing. Windows 10 is a little weird at first but once you get use to it, it's great. The use of the pen with Microsoft OneNote is awesome! As a college student it makes a life a whole lot easier, you no longer need a notebook again and having a forward facing camera makes it nice to record lectures. If you get certificate errors make sure the time and date is correct. The screen is very fragile so be careful and don't press too hard on the screen.

Great for non-techies too!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop earlier today. It took about an hour or so to install Office. Some reason I had to uninstall first, then restart to reinstall. The second time on windows.com, the instructions were difficult to search. The screen seemed to be quite hot during the installation process, and I fee the battery took a while to charge, but it is definately worth it fpr the fact that the keybord buttons are ergonomical, so I can type so fast - while scrolling down and up / zooming in and out on the screen due to the touchable screen function. The keyboard design makes it better than Surface Pro 4, and the touchable screen with scrolling and zooming capabilities makes this better than the MacBook. I'm glad I bought this over those two. The aesthetic design is very sleek and modern. I wish there were more available covers for the Book to purchase. Also, I'm not a big fan of the mouse board - I prefer the standard rectangle with the left and right buttons on the bottom (3 rectangle) and maybe the small ball in the middle. I don't like it at all, so I use he touchscreen instead. The Best Buy rep told me to not bother buying a mouse, and that I will get use to the touchscreen after a few times.

Fantastic product. Better than Apple for once!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Something's going on at Microsoft. It has been ages since they made anything "cool" AND unique. Since our trusty old Dell finally kicked the bucket we went to Best Buy to test drive all these new convertible 2-in-1 laptops/tablets. The Surface Book is totally unique in the way it looks, works and feels. It definitely has a cool factor the others don't. By the way, I absolutely love the backlit keyboard and how customizable everything is. The voice recognition is also very well done, although not quite as good as Apple's. Aside from the hardware, Windows 10 is probably their best OS yet. I was a die-hard Windows 7 guy, but this might just be better. Of course Win10 is most useful when you are dealing with touchscreen technology, but everything just works. It's different for sure, but interesting, not annoying. 8 was just plain annoying. 10 they got right. I never thought I'd say this, but I like my new Surface Book better than my iPad (my whole family uses Apple products at home, with the laptop being the only exception). I find myself drawn to the Surface because it's so flexible and fun to use. I love how the tablet screen can be detached and put in backwards so you still have a nice slanted prop on it if you want, and you don't feel the keyboard underneath, which is one of the things that sets the Surface apart from the others. Really, you need to go into a store and test drive these things. Overall, it works perfect as a stand-alone tablet and as regular laptop. Makes the MacBook seem ancient in comparison. I've used them all. Nice to see Microsoft back in the game. I grew up with Windows so MS holds a special place in my heart, but our whole family still finds our iPhone, iPads, and AppleTV our regular "go-to" devices. I hope Microsoft keeps this up. Xbox and Azure are great products, but there is still a lot of room left for improvement in other market segments. If I had to find one complaint it's that the tablet screen can sometimes be difficult to detach unless you're prepared to grab it with your whole hand and pull quickly. In other words, it requires more than a gentle touch. It's hard watching first timers try to detach the screen. When closed in regular laptop mode it can also be difficult to open the screen initially. My 8 year old could not figure it out. It's like a delicate clamshell you have to pry apart. You get used to it quickly, though. These minor things pale in comparison to how great the overall package is. Kudos to Microsoft.

Good but Returned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I first purchased the Surface Pro 4 but sent it back because of the fan noise. I then purchased the Surface Book and it had a Surface Device: Failure, the GPU wasn't installing. I tried resetting the PC 3 times but still nothing, I returned it as well. I never have to return my MacBooks and MacBook Pro computers. This product is a great concept but not ready yet IMO. I didn't want to purchase the iPad Pro because the Surface line seems so much more useful but not if they don't work. They are extremely expensive devices, I'd look at the HP Spectre 360, it supports a stylus that might be good enough but it only comes with 8GB of RAM.
