Spent a day working with microsoft support. Now they say I should re-install windows operating system, something I really wouldn't expect after dropping a few g's on a product. Check out Microsoft Community forum before buying to see all problems with Windows 10. Oh yeah, monitor is overheating & new internet browset stalls on password entries.

The only problem is with Microsoft Edge I couldn't get the HP printer to work with it, so I went to Chrome and all is well. Other than that I enjoy the unit.

I was looking for a powerful 2-in-1 laptop and when I found this in YouTube I went to the store to try the features. Although its a expensive laptop its design and performance are far better than most laptops

Multitasking is extremely fast and combined with the surface dock I have been able to hook up 2 external monitors without any trouble at all. Very light and cant wait to start using it as a tablet as well

I've only had this about a month, but so far I love it! I'm still learning how to use the many features including the pen. This is also my first experience with Windows 10. I read so many negative things about Windows 10 that I was reluctant to do the free upgrade to my old Windows 7 laptop. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised and so comfortable with this as my prime computer that I traded my old one in. The very best part of my new Surface Book is that it shuts down so fast, and it turns on in seconds and is ready to go. I used to use the sleep function when I closed the lid. Now I have it set to shut down when I close the lid, and power on when I click the button at the top.

    Full of bugs

After reading many product reviews, I purchased the SB knowing there were a few issues that Microsoft was working to fix. However, after downloading all of the patches and fixes, the SB could not even perform the most basic functions without crashing, locking up, or suddenly auto-rebooting. In addition, battery life was nowhere close to the specs and the battery continued to drain even when the SB was shut down (not in sleep mode but actually "off"). After 5 days of working diligently on trying to find and install work-arounds, it still would not operate more than an hour or so without a major problem. During the short time when it functioned, it was slow and displayed considerable lag even with simple programs like word and excel. I returned the SB to Best Buy for a refund. Great concept, extremely poor execution especially considering the high-end price tag.

I've been a MacBook Pro user for the last 10 years. Becoming disenchanted with Apple over the last two years, I've been closely watching Microsoft 10 reviews and felt like now was the time to make the move back to Windows. The hardware configuration on this machine is excellent - fast, hardy and dependable. Editing video, audio & photos with Adobe works very well. No glitches, errors or operational flukes. Been using it daily since I purchased a month ago. Very pleased and glad I made the move. It's a whole new open world out there!

Buggy that's but expected for first generation device... There's a lot of hype and for the most part it delivers but for the price slightly fall short of my expectations of "the laptop that can replace your desktop". It's a powerhouse on the specs but it needs a lot of updates to address expected issues It's far more powerful than any tablet that I've used but I won't be letting go of my laptop any time soon

I use devices HARD. I have a radio show in the morning and I am a systems engineer the rest of the day. I need something to keep up with me, but I am willing to test things out. I had nothing but issues with 2 units. My unit's would go into device reset when they got taxed with work - multiple tabs open in Chrome, multiple ssh connections and a few text editors. I had to do a factory reset at least 3 times on one unit and 2 on another. After the reset it said it could not sign me in, but continued. When I tried to download updates I was blocked with errors on the store and Windows update itself. A device reset and it worked. I wanted to love this device. The staff at Best Buy were way more than helpful and understanding with me during my issues. I have nothing but high praise for their patience.

Surafce Book works well. Windows 10 takes getting used to and is frustrating when you know how to do something in 7 but no idea how to accomplish a simple task in 10. Most frustrating item is when the laptop/tablet goes to sleep and does not wake up. You have got to be kidding me......frustrating. An OEM Microsoft power cord costs $79! at Best Buy. Again, you have got to be kidding me!

I had to purchase a new computer in a relative hurry due to a fatal compromise of my previous computer. I had a list of absolute needs and then wants. After doing a fair amount of research and consulting with a friend that writes software we went to look at the "finalists". This one was the most expensive, but after testing the "pens", there was no question that the Microsoft surface pro was the right choice for me. It is light, slim and sleek. It is quick responsive with the upgraded ram. The only "add" I would have like to see would be more USB ports, but that was overcome by and external hub.

The surface book is a pretty darn good computer. i had the surface pro 2 before this, and it too was excellent. the biggest issue is the CPU: it's just too weak for serious work. the MacBook pro, with it's quad core, is more than twice as fast at video and photo editing. nevertheless, the touchscreen, pen, and other features make this a good computer for the must-have-windows crowd. Shame that Windows 10 is so terrible. maybe they'll eventually get it worked out, but right now it's just a nightmare, from an IT perspective. Kudos, though, for keeping apple on their toes.

Fast computer when it is working, but froze immediately within a few days of opening. Has frozen on several occasions in first few months. Pen works well but settings program has glitches and doesn't allow adjustment. Very lightweight and mobile. Detachable screen is easy to use. Again, very good when it is working right, but for the high cost these issues should not exist.

Like alot of people i looked at the reviews and read alot of them before I decided to purchase. Additionally it was not easy task to find one. They were sold out everywhere, but finally a Best Buy about 100 miles away received one yesterday and I picked it up this morning. I am a software developer as well as a DBA. I use Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise and SQL Server 2014 as well as additional programs. I have loaded both on the Surface Book. Core I7 512gb 16gb RAM. I have benched marked my compiling and heavy database crunchy against my development desktop and I am very pleased. Compile times are excellent, algorithm crunching and looping is excellent and the times are much lower than I thought they would be. Being a developer of mobile, web and desktop applications as well as Line of business applications, I can say that this computer works great. Since I travel to clients it will definitely be put to good use. I guess the only thing that I can complain about is the price is up there, but I do not regret my decision to purchase it. I am not a casual user. I use my computers and equipment for my career and to make a living. I am over critical when it comes to my equipment, computers and software and with that said, I recommend definitely getting one.

I have a love hate relationship with the SurfaceBook. I love it, so much. It literally does everything I ever wanted, and more. The price tag is a tough pill to swallow, though. But it's worth every penny. If you're ready to pony up to the price, you won't be disappointed. There's no doubt using this machine that it's premium. Solid keys, excellent interface, and incredible functionality with Windows 10 make this a 10/10 winner in my book (which is now a SurfaceBook.) You'll get different level's of performance with different builds, and the D-GPU is worth.
