I needed a new computer, so I did my online search and then I did stop by Best Buy.
It has been the best chiuse ever: I got what I needed as well as the key features/ SW packages and security protections, in addition to the invaluable support (online and in person) of the GeekSquad.

I use this laptop as a portable lab to do software development and run some VMs using Microsoft Hyper-V. No issues with the touch screen or the detachable keyboard. Based on lighting the screen will adjust but easily fixed in the windows settings. Battery life is good and you can run multiple applications and get a 4-6hr charge depending on which apps are running.

This is my 3rd Surface. So I am an experienced user and repeat customer. I loved my Surface Book that I bought 4 years ago, but due to an impact the edge of the screen broke and separated from the casing. So, I determined to get a new Surface, and bought the Surface Book 3 in the larger 15 inch size and more memory. It is fast, sleek and does the things that my prior Surface did. That said, I have been VERY DISAPPOINTED in a glitch that must be in the physical structure of this machine. When connected to a separate keyboard, all too often some cybergremlin takes it over and you type a key, say "r" and it all by itself types an unending stream of "r"s that do not stop unless you terminate the email or Word document or whatever you are typing. There seems to be no cure for this cyber-dementia. Second worst issue is that the mouse pad is resistant on right clicks to get the pop up list of "copy" "paste" etc. I found that if I tap two fingers at once on the right side of the mouse pad that it works almost all the time, while the usual one thumb tap rarely works. This also seems to be a hardware problem. I am probably going to return this product to the store.

The Surface book seems to be working fine and as described. I have had a several Surface Pro's over the years for work and have been generally happy with their performance as well.

The audio isn’t the clearest. Sounds very muffled. The visual quality is great and the camera is great for zoom meetings

I am writing this laptop as an educator standpoint. I teach a STEM program and the program purchased these for the teachers. In the days of corona, I teach simultaneous classes. Recently, I've had to be mobile from class to class. This computer has been a lifesaver. I've had multiple laptops, multiple tablets (I'm personally not an Apple person), and this, by far, is the nicest. The visuals are stunning, it's quick with zero lag. When transitioning from laptop mode to tablet mode, it is incredibly seemless. The only gripe I have is, for some reason, I am not able to use the on-screen keyboard, but I think that is a software issue, not a hardware issue.
The price is astoundingly high, and I would not purchase this for myself; however, this is best for a tech-centric business or organization who can utilize its true power.

I'd love to give this a 5 star simply based on the physical design of the computer, which I love. I got a Surface Book in 2016, so this is a different model and I hope they've improved things.
I bought this computer with the sole intent of using Autodesk products. I asked at the Best Buy (Atlantic Terminal, Brooklyn) if this computer would work well with these products. The answer was yet. Soon, I have a recurring issue with no fix anywhere on the internet. While using AutoCAD or Revit, my keyboard will out of nowhere stop working, and I have to leave the program, open a browser window quick, and just keep trying to type until something shows up, and I can go back to using Revit or CAD. Early on, when I had the protection plan, I hadn't realized that this was triggered by Autodesk products, couldn't reproduce the issue for Best Buy, and thus couldn't get a fix or a refund. Further down the road of my research, I see that this computer has a graphics card that is incompatible with Autodesk products.
Wow! Thanks so much for selling me a $2k computer that can't serve it's primary purposes without having to be resuscitated multiple times during each work session. This issue doesn't occur when I use an external keyboard, so, unless I want to get really frustrated, this computer is now functionally a desktop.
In addition to this, there are big issues with scaling graphics and text to work with the high resolution of the screen. This is a big issue in programs like AutoCAD and Photoshop
