Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Surface Dock's ease of use, abundant USB ports, and ability to support multiple monitors. Many appreciate its compact size and compatibility with Surface devices, while also finding the improved connectivity and charging capabilities beneficial. However, some customers find the price to be high and the weight a bit cumbersome. A shorter-than-ideal cable length was also a recurring point of feedback.

I love this product. It works great for extending the Surface Book to another monitor. I love that it also charges my Surface Book, while I'm using it. Would definitely recommend this for and Surface owner who is looking to extend the use of their Surface product.

    Great dock for multiple displays

I use the Surface Dock to connect two large displays to my Surface Pro 6, and it works flawlessly through the magnetic power connection. Simple to use and set up, and no connecting HDMI cords every time! I also have a phone charging cable connected to one of the Dock’s USB ports, and the other has the “dongle” for a wireless keyboard and mouse combo. It’s everything I need to work at my most efficient. At about $200, it’s may feel a bit pricey. But if you need multiple displays for your Surface, it’s the best way by far! Love my Surface Dock!

    Decent Dock

It's a decent dock for the surface book. It provides additional usb 3.0 ports, display port and ethernet. Found that streaming xbox one to the surface book worked better over ethernet than wifi. I got the dock on sale. I don't know if I would pay full price for it. Even on sale I thought it was somewhat pricey still.

I love the smaller form factor of the surface pro 4 dock. dual mini display ports, ethernet, and USB 3.0 ports are all very handy. I ran into an issue running dual displays, but a firmware update on my surface pro 3 fixed the issue. I love it. planning on purchasing another for my home office!

    Nice Docking Station

This docking station for the Microsoft Surface is nice. It gives you the power to make your Surface an actual desktop PC with the two mini display ports on its rear. You also have the ability to use four USB 3.0 ports and to hard wire an RJ-45 connection into it to give your surface full Gigabit Ethernet speeds. This is a nice product. I've also setup three monitors using this docking station by using Insignia's USB to VGA adapter on this docking station. It's a great product and it keeps your Surface charged.

Not much I can say except this works as advertised. It's a nice addition to the surface if you use your device in the field and in the office. An easy way to increase usb ports and dual monitor capabilities. The only negative thing I can say is it's a little expensive for what it is.

This works great for me to use my Surface Pro as a desktop replacement. With one connection to the Surface Pro I can easily use my big screen 4K monitor, keyboard, and mouse. And I have extra USB ports for external drives and/or flash sticks.

This product is much better than the others available on the market. This dock gives me the opportunity to use the USB part that comes with my surface by plugging into the charging port. It also charges my surface. It was definitely worth the money and never leaves my desk.

Kinda buggy, but still useful dock

Firstly, do NOT buy the open box listing for the surface dock... at least, in my case, it didn't come with the power cord. What the heck? I asked customer service and they said "Oh yeah, the open box version only has the dock." Hello, you need the power adapter to supply the dock! It is a proprietary power supply and is used solely by the dock itself. Anyway, the actual dock is fine. I find it very convenient to have the magnetic surface connect mechanism. My dock supports 4K output on a single monitor only, and I have to use a mini-display adapter, it won't work with HDMI (certainly not with the HDMI connector that I have). So, the dock is pretty buggy with outputting video to your monitor, and a lot of people have problems with dual display output (especially 4K). The USB and Ethernet is fine. The dock also powers your device, which is great. Overall, it gets the job done, especially if you only have one external monitor. It is convenient as a docking workstation solution.

The docking station is pretty small so it does not take up a lot of room but is easy to use and connect my Surface Pro 3 quickly. If you want to connect two monitors you have to use 2 HDMI converting cables. I tried to use one HDMI and one regular video cable but this did not work.

Makes Surface Pro what it needs to be

Having used computers many decades, I've decided that the human interface is the crucial issue, WHEN the computer itself is capable of doing what I need. 1) Hence, a good keyboard and screen (as large as possible) are important. 2) However, I do value portability, having used "laptop" computers from their earliest days. My most recent upgrade was a Surface Pro 3, on advise of my tech guru. I endured a lousy keyboard and microscopic (or so it seemed) screen for a year. My tech guru then suggested a Surface Dock, with good keyboard & screen. After some compatibility issues handled well by Best Buy staff, I have the "brick" (not the dock) connected to a large screen & good keyboard. AND I can disconnect one connector and be fully portable. The best of both worlds - I'm becoming a fan of Best Buy - staff are consistently helpful & knowledgeable, and painlessly make adjustments when needed.

I bought the dock specifically to be able to use a big screen monitor and to have additional USB 3 ports. I also use an external wireless keyboard. When I need to use the Surface Pro away from my desk there is only one connection to deal with. I love it.

As laptops get thinner and provide fewer ports for connecting to peripheral devices such as monitors, hard drives, etc., it becomes more and more annoying to use them. The Surface Book is an excellent computer, but does not provide enough ports. This additional dock, though pricey, gives you 4 additional USB ports, an ethernet port, an audio port and 2 DVI ports to attach monitors. While this is satisfactory, the audio port is located strangely in the middle of the other ports, which makes it more difficult to plug and unplug audio cords. I am finding that bluetooth headphones don't seem to work while the laptop is plugged into the port. Also, because most monitors have DVMI cords, I had to buy expensive DVI adapters to plug them in. After six weeks the DVI ports have failed, and I am now calling Microsoft to see about service or replacement, which I'm not overwhelmed about, but can't really comment on since I don't know the cause of the failure.

Utilizing a Surface Dock provide a lot of flexibility. It gives you the opportunity to have multiple monitors, another charger, and multiple USB ports. It turns your Surface into a 'standard' PC which provides the ultimate amount of flexibility.

I got this for my Surface Book. This is very useful, and it's great to have a home charger in addition to the "travel" charger that comes with the laptop. It's also really nice to have extra USB ports. I don't know why they went with display port instead of VGA or HDMI. None of the pictures show it, but it comes with a power adapter cord, which is like a conventional laptop cord with a figure-8 AC cord and a transformer brick which then plugs into the doc. It would be super cool if the dock had the transformer built into it so that it would use just need the figure-8 AC cord instead of being in two pieces. It's also pretty expensive for what it is. I should have got a USB3 port replicator for like half the price. I wouldn't recommend it because there's better options available at this point.

Definitely does the job; connect to multiple displays, ethernet, and four USB ports. BUT... technology has advanced enough these things should be slim and lightweight. Not fun to carry around, but if its going in your office or a permanent location, you will love it.
