This allows me to leave the dock on my desk and when I use my surface pro at the desk, I only plug in the magnetic surface connector and instantly have use of my larger computer monitor (have option to add a second one) and all my USB accessories.

I'm used to HP business class with docking stations. The Microsoft dock is good- but with my surface book, there are occasional issues with extra monitors. Microsoft needs to get the bugs worked out, but it is still better than no dock. It's just not as good as the HP systems I'm used to.

My original docking station block failed rather quickly. The USB ports started quitting once at a time. I purchased this replacement and so far it has been working great. I stopped using the USB ports to charge my cell phone though.

I use my Surface for my accounting business. With the dock I have everything I needed plugged in and ready to use when I need it. Plus I am able to have three monitors with the two plugged into the dock and the Surface screen. Makes life easier for me.

So I needed a dock station of work. Went to Best Buy and purchase this. Docking station works great. Our use it on the Microsoft tablet and it allows me to see everything on my big monitors at work easily. So purchased is worth every penny.

Note that the dock requires a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to connect to an external monitor. It does not use the USB C to HDMI adapter that is used when connecting an external monitor directly to the Surface Book. The dock needed to be updated with the Microsoft Surface Dock Updater before the connection to my external monitor will work. In my case, the dock did not work directly out-of-the box which may be a disappointment to some and perhaps justification to return the product as dead. It works great after the update. It is nice not to have cables and usb devices connected to the surface. With just the power connector tied to the Surface Book, it makes it easy to run with the Surface when I need to go mobile.

The device works fine - does what it is supposed to do. My biggest gripe is Microsoft's insistence on doing things their way and not realizing the need to add ports that align with today's technology. Why wouldn't they have added HDMI ports in additional to mini-display port?

Overall this dock is great in build quality. However, if you are using the laptop for gaming the dock does not supply enough power to prevent the laptop from draining. This is a pretty big negative depending on what you want to use the laptop for.

This dock works very well but I returned it just based on how much it cost. After using it for a few days I thought it was not worth the hefty price tag. If you can find one under $100 it's a solid buy.

I got this to use as a docking station so that I could set up a monitor, keyboard, and mouse at home to get full use out of my laptop. The connectivity is kind of wonky with my Surface Book laptop; sometimes I have to unplug and replug it in to get it to work right. Sometimes the monitor isn't detected properly, so when I plug it in while it's on, it defaults to 1024x768 so it's really hard to use. Sometimes I'd have to open and shut the laptop, other times only a reboot would fix it. I really expected better performance for the price I paid for this.

Perfect dock used to connect my Surface Pro to my monitor. Plenty of ports for USB and Ethernet. Small and compact doesn't take much space on my desk. Heavy enough not to slide around and fall off my desk. Overall great product.

The one downfall of the surface pro is the lack of ports, arguably because it's part tablet rather than pure laptop. This solves the issue, although having the hub and the transformer as separate pieces is awkward to move around if needed

As a port replicator, this works well. There are a few caveats, though, I would extend to anyone considering this. First, make sure you have a monitor and adaptor that are supported by the docking brick. Not all are. Second, Microsoft has yet to work out the bugs for this device, and I had to have it replaced twice before I got one that worked 100% correctly. On the upside, Microsoft's customer service division for the Surface line is extremely good, and I got both replacements with little effort on my part. Once I got that straightened out, though, I was happy with the device and the functionality it added to my Surface Pro 4.

no complaints other than it could use a few more ports. I would give 5 stars but honestly it needs more ports, 3rd and 4th monitors would be great. At least three. Thunderbolt would be nice too. But works great for what it is and advertises no more.

Did not work with my external DVD drive. Found out later it was the DVD drive not compatible with the Surface, nothing to do with the dock. Had to get another $40 adapter for the external screen. Everything seems to work fine

I have a Surface Pro, and have been carrying my computer and dock back and forth from our winter home. I forgot the dock and power connector this time, so needed one right away. Best Buy had what I needed, and a knowledgeable staff to lead me there. Thanks!

This dock works well, it really has no faults. It is technically even easier/quicker than the previous generation. But because it is a puck and not something the unit locks into, it takes up more desk space than before.

I bought this as a second dock. It works well and remembers my screen setting/setup, which are different between office and home. One magnetic cable is all that it takes to attach it, and that makes it a fast transition from desk to travel bag.

Bought this so I could use the surface as a desktop and laptop for an on the road salesmen. It is easy to plug and play with this and allows us to accomplish exactly what we needed for a fraction of the cost of a laptop with similar features.

My Surface Pro 4 is like a desktop when I'm connected to the docking station. A very effective accessory that enables in office comforts like a full-size monitor, keyboard, mouse, wired internet makes it work just like a desktop.
