Great if you need a dual monitor and additional ports!

I replaced my Surface Pro 2 and docking station with the Surface Book and the new Surface Dock. First - I love all the ports. Couldn't be happier. Having said that, the dock does not work effectively. Regularly the dock does not see my USB connections. It's been significantly frustrating to have to unplug the dock from the power supply, then plug it back in in order to get it to recognize that the ports are active. It happens at least once per day, and frankly, if I had a better choice, I wouldn't have purchased it.

would be 5 start but only if it had three digital outputs.

Convenient way to leave peripherals such as desktop monitors.

Good addition to Surface Pro. 4 USB 3 ports are great.

Reliable option for docking solution for buesiness.

Bulky and Heavy port extender and charger for MS Surface products. Primarily useful for its 4K Display ports. Not so good for charging in that it does not provide sufficient power to run Surface Book 2 with full bore graphics without depleting battery.

The dock is a nice expansion to the Surface tablet, allowing you to use it as your primary desktop. I would rate the product higher, but several have throughout the company have failed and required warranty replacement. Microsoft does honor the warranty without much effort.

This was very easy to setup and use. You plug it into where there charger goes and this now charges and adds all these extra hookups to your surface.

Had previous surface tablet and had struggles connecting in public wifi and crashing issues. really have had no issues with this device. Works great and easily portable.

Bought this for my mom's Surface Laptop. It is nice to plug everything into a central place and allow a single connection to her laptop.

I have multiple offices and it makes going from one to the other way more comfortable. Able to connect external monitors simply is really convenient. Love it.

I waited for quite a while before I purchased this dock for my wife. I was hoping that all the kinks were worked out. Unfortunately there were issues when docking her surface pro 4 about 50% of the time. It wasn't a huge issue, but it was definitely an annoyance. Basically, when docked, the surface wouldn't automatically go into desktop mode even though I set it up to recognize it when we do so. We would have to swipe up on the screen with the wire connected to sign in. I was really hoping that it would be totally seamless. I had to return it due to the W.A.F (wife acceptance factory) being extremely low since it's behavior was totally unpredictable. Maybe next time msft. in the meantime I'll stick to the usb3.0 docks.

It serves its purpose very well and it works great.

All started well with my dock, but then I tried to plug in two monitors. First of all there were no HDMI ports to plug them into so i needed to buy additional cables (problem #1). Then once I got the proper cables everything worked great, UNTIL the computer went to sleep, and forgot it's settings (problem #2). I couldn't get the second monitor to work anymore. I ended do hours of online research on various forums and found this is a common problem and many people are having to bypass their $150 dock completely. I can get the monitors to reconnect... eventually, but it is a process everytime I wake the computer up. Also the dock occasionally loses its connection temporarily then reconnects... All around i wouldn't recommend.

This is the only way to go. It is so great to be able to take my Surface to any desk in our office and plug into the dock and be ready to work within seconds.

What can I say, it does its job without having any IT skills

I absolutely love my Microsoft doc. The ease of use the extra ports and the quality of the cable makes this a great purchase an addition to my surface.
