Great untit it wasn't...
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved it until it stopped working right after the warranty was up. I couldn't return it or exchange it. After several battery changes and trying to remove and re-add it to the Surface, I gave up on it.

Great Job Microsoft!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had it for about 2 months now, running on a Linux machine. Linux picked up nearly all the specialty keys, which I didn't expect. The keyboard itself has a fantastic feel to it. The keys snap well, if you know what I mean. It just types well. The quality of the keyboard is very nice. It just feels good to use. It's nice spacing between the keys, so i find myself making fewer errors in typing. Low profile keys might have something to do with it as well. It's a very sleek keyboard with a tight design taking up as little desk space as possible but still having a great full size keyboard. No extra space wasted. Over all, A+. If I had any complaints it might be the contrast of the keys. I'm not a pure typist and never have been. I hunt and peck at a high rate of speed and need to find my spot frequently from sight (80 words a minute maybe???) There is room for a little improvement if they keep going with this product line. Maybe more battery capacity so they can add lighted keys? It would also be nice if they made a non bluetooth wireless model with a dongle, which I would have opted for more than likely. Never a serious fan of bluetooth devices in general, even though I've had 0 problems with this particular device. Wales up a little slowly on boot maybe. I think they'd do themselves a favor and sell a lot more of these things. It's truly the best PC keyboard on the market, hands down. The only one that comes close in my opinion is the Logitech solar powered keyboard, but that's nice in a different kind of way. The Microsoft Surface keyboard is pure elegance with a high quality build. Many of us are willing to pay more for quality. Hats off to you Microsoft.

Excellent keyboard, great feel
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great keyboard and has the best overall feel I've ever used on a PC before. I can type extremely fast and accurate on it, and the keys have the perfect amount of travel. My only caveat is that on my PC I had to purchase a USB Bluetooth dongle (I use the Plugable 2.0 USB adapter), which although works perfectly in Windows 10, it does not work to select bios options (e.g. to boot from an external drive). This isn't a big hindrance, however, it does mean that until you get working bluetooth drivers you will need another keyboard. I keep a spare logitech wireless with dongle which does work with the bios. Even with that annoyance for my setup, it wouldn't deter me from purchasing or recommending this keyboard.

Nice, Solid Keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This keyboard has a nice feel and build quality. Key travel is great, no mushiness to the keys, and so far it is a pleasure to type on. The build is solid and not too heavy. It has a very clean look.

Good, but could benefit from back-lighting
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fine keyboard. Great responsiveness and love the layout. Lots of controls for the Surface along the top row. The one thing that I wish it had is back-lighting. That would make this a five star plus keyboard. As it stands, I have to use my surface keyboard case in darker environs. Still, it's an excellent keyboard in an office environment. I love having my Surface Pro propped on its stand and using this keyboard. It;s a perfect office combination.

Worked great on Mac - Not so well in Windows
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used this keyboard for months on OSX and it was great. Later using this on a Windows OS, the keyboard works as expected until... Any reboot, sleep, or idle will disconnect the keyboard and it will not send input until unpaired /re-paired. And by disconnect, I mean the device is still connected to bluetooth, I can even click the keyboard in bluetooth list and it will momentarily say paired then flash away, all the while also showing the battery level. But despite the apparent bluetooth connection, some integration issue with Win10 isn't working as designed. The driver is from 2006, from other reviews sounds like a specific driver should be released for this device.

Fine keyboard but not particularly quiet/silent!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a super quiet, or silent, keyboard to use while on video meetings with clients. Given the advertised statement of "depress the keys silently so you won’t disturb others," I was optimistic about this one! It was quieter than many, but definitely not quiet, and absolutely not silent! The best I've found (without building a keyboard from purchased parts) is actually the Logitech MK295 Silent Wireless Keyboard -- a steal at $29.99 including the mouse! This Microsoft one was disappointing.

Died in 48 days - Bad Quality Control
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased on 12/30/2016 and died on 2/17/2017. This keyboard died randomly and stops allowing keys to be pressed with shift key on the right shift key with the underscore. Problem is it's nice if it's your sort of thing. However, if you have any issues it's expensive. It has AAA batteries which requires a cost repetitively and the power button has bad placement. I really liked the keyboard but it's comical at best to troubleshoot a keyboard for close to two hours (granted Microsoft Support is non-existent and just asked for useless information repeatedly or for you to reboot a computer). I'm technical and even for me the more rediculous troubleshooting wasn't able to fix the odd errors I had as it's a faulty product. Overall I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as it's super expensive, not practical and there's better options across the board (I really like it) but this keyboard is not designed to last (it's not like I'm hammering away on the thing either).

Battery DRAINS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great keyboard for looks, function...etc. However, battery life is max 6-7 days before replacement is necessary (2AA). operating costs for keyboard will exceed computer costs in 2 years.
