Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 7 is a great choice. Lives up to its claims. However, keep in mind it is an ARM Architecture and not as powerful or compatible as X64 (64-bit) or X86 (32-bit).

I bought this laptop expecting that 32GB of RAM, combined with a Snapdragon processor, would at least handle basic video editing. I understood going in that it uses integrated graphics, but even older Intel integrated graphics systems I’ve owned could manage simple editing tasks. This one cannot. Performance is extremely disappointing. Even light video editing is a struggle, which makes this device feel far less capable than its specs suggest. For the price, that’s hard to justify. What really says a lot is that Best Buy would not even accept it as a trade-in. That alone tells me how little value they see in this machine, and unfortunately I agree. If your needs are very basic - things like browsing the web, working in Word, or watching videos - it may be fine. But anything beyond that, and it quickly shows its limitations. At this price point, I expected a lot more. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the worst-performing laptops I’ve owned. I would not recommend it, especially if you need any level of performance beyond simple everyday tasks.

Great laptop with Snap dragon chip running cooler than intel. I have phone and tablet running by snap dragon. I worried ăt first because I don't believe a snap dragon processor can handle a heavy programming software.

The Best Laptop out there. I have bought about 6 so far for my employee's. they are really nice. We used to Dell customers. I like the new Snapdragon CPU. Its light, and super fast. a Must Buy!

Surface pro is one of the best laptops hands down. The snapdragon works wonders and is up to standard it displays.

they really hyped this thing up in terms of battery life and emulating non native apps. im giving it 2 stars for build quality. battery drains over 12% an hour just web browsing on an arm native browser.

This laptop is very enjoyable to live with and work on. As a small business owner and software architect my usage of this laptop varies between media consumption all the way to running developer tools for projects I am working on. I won’t say that ARM will fit everyone’s use case but for me software incompatibility has not been a deal breaker. System performance has been phenomenal and battery life is night and day compared to my older Intel laptop (12th Gen i7). The software seems to be getting more refined over time as well. When I first got this device, 5 to 6 months ago, the Netflix app would intermittently hang and crash. The app has not crashed in the last 2 months with regular usage. What I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I have come to appreciate is the size, weight, build quality and battery life. I own a 15 inch MacBook Pro M1 which has been and is a great device. But it is quite big and heavy compared to this. The surface weight and build quality feel every bit as good as the MacBook Pro. It runs dead silent and feels cool to the touch even under load. What really has impressed me is battery life. This MacBook was the first device to make me first feel that I can work on a laptop without being plugged in. Finally a windows device gives me the same confidence of using the device disconnected. I have gone full work days disconnected without concern. Even if the device gets to 20% battery there is still roughly 2 hours of device usage remaining in most cases. I would recommend this laptop to anyone that wants to take their work mobile or just enjoys a smaller lightweight laptop in general. As a developer I used to never go smaller than 15”. I am glad that I finally did because there are benefits in mobility. Windows 11 has received a lot of hate, but to be honest it hasn’t bothered me. It’s less of a change than the Mac was for me. Most software just runs on this device. If you have concerns, research your top apps before buying. All MS applications, minus SQL server, run natively.

Just like other laptops, it freezes. Just like other laptops, it slows down to the point that I have to re-start it every day. Every day. It wants to store everything on One Drive. I want to store docs on the actual laptop. I can't get it to do that and I don't have 4 hours to go down a "settings" rabbit hole. I thought this laptop would work seamlessly with MS Word, Excel, etc. It doesn't. It works just like other PC's - inconsistently and buggy. The display is beautiful. I bought the most expensive 7th generation - and at best it is "poor". If I spent $500, I'd expect problems. But this thing has bug after bug after bug, after freeze after freeze. It's terrible. And I paid a fair amount of money for it. MS support - non-existent on the phone or on the web. They direct you to a bot that is dumber than a bag of hammers, and then they direct you to "Community" answers. Could you stand behind your product any less? Again, paid for the most expensive model.

Microsoft Surface Laptops are OK for about 2 years. At that mark, it will start to fail. Whether it be a random update that breaks it or just the hardware failing due to heat, it will fail. Out of the box, will probably work great but slowly, over time, the performance will degrade. I've had to work on numerous different Surfaces and all of them failed right around the 2 year mark, or just simply got so slow the user was done with it. I will never purchase another one of these computers. It is not good for much more than email and surfing the web when it starts running slow. Not built to last by any stretch. At the price tag of this, you can get (or build) a very powerful computer that will last you around 5 years minimum.

I thought I’d use this laptop at least for the next 3 years, but it’s impossible. The lack of compatibility with most of the apps Ineed to run in this computer is ridiculous. I cant use the printing application and it doesnt work with my printer. The battery doesn’t last that long. It seems like there’s a hype around this PC with a lot of marketing thrown at it, but it’s questionable this is worth its price. My friends have Intel-based laptops and they look prettier and run better any application. Don’t let yourself be fooled like I did with this PC.
