Customers appreciate the Surface Laptop 2's lightweight design, excellent keyboard quality, and ease of use. Many also praise its long battery life and sleek aesthetics. However, some customers find the price to be high and wish it had more ports and storage options. The limited storage capacity was another recurring concern.

I really like this device that's why i made this purchase, actually 2 of them but as soon as i recieved it was disappointing when i paid more then 1000 dollars for each still didn't get windows 10 pro, overall device is good i like windows 10 operating system, but i am not happy that it comes with windows 10 home edition, when my sister bought surface laptop she had windows pro, that was the reason i thought it would be good purchase for me and my wife but Microsoft wants to take more money from us in order to provide their top notch operating system which was the selling point. Its been a week, my wife return her device because apple had better alternative. I am still giving it a try but not sure if i stay with windows 10 home edition with basic options, i bought Microsoft device thought ms office and operating system should be top notch but Microsoft is being greedy. Sorry if you are selling good hardware you need to provide good operating system to utilize this device as well.

Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out. We are sorry to hear you're not fully enjoying all Windows 10 has to offer. We work hard to listen to our customers needs. We have found that most of our customers enjoy the benefits Windows 10 Home Edition has to offer, which is why we have implemented it into Surface Laptop 2.

I am very unhappy that the surface one comes with Windows pro and on this one I have to pay extra, it makes literally no sense as a consumer to pay for something that the first Gen has. When I reached out to Microsoft and after an hour of basically nothing they just confirmed that I would have to pay for which I could gather my self. I am usually an Apple user so far I am unimpressed with the ports as well as. I am still within my 14 days and I am really considering doing an exchange for a mac instead. The surface laptop has beautiful display its touch screen and some nice features but for the price I feel like it should be more innovated.... I don't know that I would recommend it to a friend.

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your honest feedback regarding your recent purchase of Surface Laptop 2. We'd like to take an opportunity to chime in regarding our Windows Operating System. Although it is always an option to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, the previous model of Surface Laptop came equipped with Windows 10 in S Mode. We listened to our customers, and with our newest model, made sure that we incorporated Windows 10 Home Edition. Of course if you wish, it is always an option for you to easily switch to Windows 10 Pro for a fee. It's very important to us to listen and respond to our customers feedback, which is why we have designed Surface Laptop 2 with its current ports. We will continue to listen carefully to our valuable customers, and continue to innovate our devices accordingly.
Kind regards,

Having just purchased this today I am relatively happy with it. It is very responsive to typing, surfing the web and streaming music/movies.
My big hang up and a reason I may possibly return is how loud the click on the mouse pad is when you push on it. It is very loud an annoying. It sounds like cheap plastic, which I could deal with if it were not so loud and obnoxious. I am aware that i can leave the tap with single finger setting on, but sometimes that is a little slow to respond and I should not have to use that all of the time.

Junk!

I was between a rock and a hard place because my computer crashed (it was fried) and I needed an immediate replacement (for work). So, I purchased this computer from Best Buy today at the advice of the salesperson. I brought it home, and began the set up process. It seemed like a good one and I really liked the feel of the computer. But, then within 20 minutes the computer froze. I forgave it that one time, but after it froze a second time and a third time and fourth time, all within the first 2 hours, I knew this was junk. Not only did it freeze but the screen would blink on and off. At one point the computer stopped responding and a screen message popped up saying "your PC has ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're collecting some error info, and then we'll restart". But, while they were "collecting info" the computer gave off this loud shrill high pitched noise. I was unable to mute or shut the computer down. I had to listen to the high pitch noise for over 60 seconds. I mean, what the heck! This is truly the junkiest computer that I have ever purchased (and Lord knows I have purchased many... at least 20) in my lifetime. It is such a disappointment too, because I really liked the look of this computer. Although I will say, it did feel cheap. The keys were somewhat flimsy and a few of them made this creaking noise when pressed (I know, weird huh? Maybe they needed to be oiled!). The bottom line is this- don't waste your money or your time.

Please don’t waste your money

I had bought this laptop for nursing school hoping for a reliable laptop. I loved it initially until I began setting up the laptop. After an hour of setting it up i wasn’t able to log into the laptop at all. It would state “Your PIN is no longer available due to a change in security settings." There was no way for me to get back into the laptop. I was on the phone with Microsoft for another hour to figure how to restart laptop. Nothing could be done. Once that happens you have no way of getting back into the laptop. I had to return the laptop after one hour of using it. Such a waste of time and money unfortunately.

HORRIBLE BATTERY

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The worst battery life I've ever had on a laptop. I had a full charge and after 3 hours I had 33% left. Only had computer for 6 weeks. The resolution is fantastic, but I'm not using it for games or movies. I am a student and writing papers, taking webcam proctored tests and web surfing is all I needed it for. My cheap Chromebook which was $500 less has a longer battery life than this. Wish I could return it but Best Buy has the worst return policy also. Not happy at all with this purchase. Waste of money to be honest

DO NOT PURCHASE!

Do not buy this product. It’s a waste of money! I purchased it and not even two and a half months later the touchpad stopped working completely. I barely even used it which makes me more upset. I bought it in June so I could prepare for my fall semester in college so thanks for nothing!!! I even took it to geek squad and they couldn’t do anything for me (go figure!) Now I’m stuck with a brand new WORTHLESS laptop. Never again! Just be aware... should’ve went with my gut and got a Mac.

Died at 15 months

I bought this from best buy in mid 2018 and used this laptop for light use only at home- Email, social media, shopping. After 15 months it stopped taking a charge. Microsoft will replace it for $450 because it died 3 months outside the warranty. Great design on their part to rip off consumers. This was a total waste of money. I will certainly not be giving them another $450 and hope this last another few months.
Save your money, buy a different brand.

first impression of the this laptop was great and I guess that is why many people buy this. but after 4 months of use these are what I found.
1. palm rest stains: they say the alcantara fabric is 100 stain resistance but it is NOT. I start getting strains where my palm lies during tying.
2. charger is not working well
3. overall performance should be better at this price
