'while I'm sure it is fast enough for others, I would have gotten a faster Intel processor. I would, also, have preferred more memory & more storage.. 'there's only one USB port & no optical drive. I only wish to carry a mouse, not an external drive nor a multiple USB peripheral or anything. I type fast & like to keep several windows open at one time. It has frozen on me several times. I'm considering giving it to my 'Granddaughter & buying something else for myself.

I really, really, really wanted to keep this laptop (Coming from a Macbook Air circa 2011). After reading and watching reviews I figured I could live without USB-C and make it worth with an adapter if needed. After all, none of my devices currently use USB-C to USB-C but I always prefer to future proof when buying some tech. I purchased the laptop at Best Buy and they price matched a competitor which was awesome. I set it up and the thing flew! No lag with 12 tabs open in Chrome. The face recognition log in works in a snap! The screen is brilliant, if not a little glare prone. My two favorite features by far had to be the long lasting battery and the tactile feel and travel of the keyboard. As someone who typed a lot it felt right at home and honestly is the best keyboard I've used on a laptop (almost didn't miss my full sized mechanical keyboard). So what is wrong with the Surface Laptop 2? The TERRIBLE Marvell wifi adapter. The internet down/up speed is atrocious and I couldn't receive a signal in the same place of my business that my now 7 year old laptop got 3 bars in! I searched online and there are a ton of complaints about the poor quality of the network adapter in the Surface line. Looks like the new Surface GO has a much better Intel chip which is completely bonkers. These ultra books are CLOUD machines since the SSDs they come with are small (I opted for 256 GB version which tacked on $200 to the overall price). If they can't get a fast internet signal that's going to be a hard pass for me. Microsoft-- if you're listening-- I love the idea of the Surface Laptop 2 and really wanted to keep it and get away from Apple! Throw a dang USB-C port on there with Lightning and get a Intel network adapter in PRONTO. In the words of one of the reviews on Youtube- "Sooooo close to perfection."

Overall a great buy. Keyboard is great for typing/writing code. The pc feels smooth and responsive when using it for basic usage (web browsing, excel, etc). The trackpad could be better, but overall not bad for use. I would recommend this laptop over a macbook or macbook air (also significantly cheaper). You will need to buy a thunderbolt to hdmi and a usb-c hub if you are planning to expand your peripherals.

Very light weight, went from surface book to the laptop. Main goal was to get a lighter device. I chose this over the surface pro because I don’t have to pay for a separate keyboard and the screen is bigger. Also, I didn’t care for the detaching keyboard as I already had a tablet. Overall, good switch for what I wanted.

I wound up returning my Surface Laptop 2 as it did not get anywhere near the advertised battery life and had some imperfections in the finish. Real use battery life was more commonly to be around 7 hours. This was a deal breaker for me as I was aiming for something to get 9 hours while this laptop has an advertised use of 14.5 hours I believe. I knew I wouldn't get 14.5 but when I got only about half I was not at all happy. What I did enjoy was the experience to use Microsoft branded computers and see how they did. For those who aren't aware, Microsoft accessories have held a type of esteem similar to Apple since the 80s and 90s. They do have a reputation to get things right so my curiosity was whether this transferred to their products. I considered the Surface Book but the loose hinges, poor battery life for the tablet and albeit goofy look when collapsed steered me away. All I was after was mainly a laptop so the while the Surface Book is impressive, it is still in it's Freshman or Sophomore release. The Surface laptop on sale and fitting the bill more so as a laptop with a cleaner cut made it immediately appealing. Then I started using it. The keyboard feels gummy at first. As though when you press down there is a rubber pad your key hits which is cushioning every strike. It is simply different but overall the key travel and resistance were great. The hinge on this is also solid and feels like a winner. The screen is also a great resolution and picture quality is stunning but be sure to check it out in store for the refresh rate. When watching movies there is more of a slideshow effect where you see each frame so there is no fluid motion. I did not notice ghosting as some users experienced. The sound could use more low end but the speech in all media is spot on. You will easily understand what anyone is saying at all times so you should know this laptop excels at something. If you're like me, watching movies and muddy sound is a no-go. Performance was not an issue and honestly this felt like a laptop to compete with a Macbook... except for the battery life and the lack of USB C support. It is almost there but not quite. I would still recommend it but you should know that you buy this with built in obsoletion. The moment a model is released which is more up to date with USB C, Battery life and perhaps a few other things here and there which are in fashion this guy will go out the window. I look forward to what Microsoft will offer in the future.

It was a pretty good laptop. Display is very bright. Lightweight. It ran very smoothly, but was concerned about its future, because it started glitching a little bit with the trackpad lagging. When I switched over to the touch screen it also lagged, so I returned it. If you won't be doing very heavy use, like myself, I would recommend it. The touch screen took a little bit to get used to, but if you can get past a few finger prints here and there, I can see how it can be convenient. Would recommend for students or professionals, it just wasn't for me.

This is my fourth surface product. The Microsoft Surface line is our go to for work and at home. The Surface Laptop isn't as powerful as the Surface Books but they do have great build quality and the keyboards are top notch. I don't think you can beat the Surface product line for all around quality. Although there are cheaper options, I don't think there are better ones.
