I ended up returning this surface laptop as my wife felt it didn't feel premium as the surface laptop prior models came with soft touch surfaces, this is not and actually feel common to all others on market. As for performance, we never got to test these due to 1st impressions of touch feel and general astetics.

Worst laptop for an experienced user. After 5 Geek Squad visits, numerous call center assistants, returned Micrsoft service. This laptop is a real disappointment. Could not load all my apps, Microsoft 365 would not activate after so many attempts by Geek Squad and the call center! After over 50 hrs of working on this issue and others..even a good guy from Geek Squad advised me to return and go to a different brand which i did. I cannot stress enough..dont buy this laptop. They are locked down and can’t be fixed. From theGeek Squad these computers are not fixable. This Surface was then destroyed by the Geek Squad. Message for sales at BB, tell the customers about this. Do not buy a Microsoft Surface! They are a disaster!

Bought this computer for my son for college. It lasted one semester. It does not work. I purchased a 2 year Best Buy geek squad protection and that’s trash too. I was told it only covers hardware issues and not software issues. That cost me over $200. Don’t do it!

Premium Laptop with a Great User Experience

This laptop has a very premium look and feel. The sage green color is subtle, changing slightly in different lighting conditions, but at a glance is a shade of gray. The screen is bright and the touch is fantastic, the bezels do not bother me at all. I turned that auto brightness feature off as it seemed too sensitive and was distracting. I really like the aspect ratio which is a bit taller than most laptops, giving you more vertical space. The keyboard is great, probably the best laptop keyboard I have used on any device. There is a clicky feel, without being noisy, and enough travel on key presses to feel satisfied and confident when you press a key. The trackpad is equally great. The microphones are incredible. This has become my go to device for meetings just because of this. They sound better than any headset microphone I have used. The webcam is good enough. It doesn’t look super sharp and suffers a bit in low light, but this is common for most laptops. The speakers are also very good, enjoyable to use at mid volumes with a bit of bass even. Logging in to the laptop with Windows Hello feels futuristic and has always worked well. The laptop feels very snappy, and Windows has really come a long way since I last looked at it. The look and feel of Windows 11 is modern yet familiar. The interface looks cleaner than previous versions of Windows. So far, the things I am enjoying are Android apps (through the Amazon App Store), the Windows Subsystem for Linux, and iCloud Photo support. iCloud Photos are integrated into the Photos app - this is great so that you can get photos on the laptop just by syncing, no need to manually copy them. I do wish there were more ports, or at least another USB type C port instead of the Surface Connector. I’ll only charge this laptop over USB C, so the port is sort of a waste for me. This is a high quality device, with a modern operating system that is easy to use.

Computer worked great for 1 month until it stopped charging. Ordered a new charger from Microsoft and that still did not fix the problem. Now it’s past the Best Buy return window (which was only 2 weeks), so the only option is to get a refurbished laptop from Microsoft. Total waste of money.

As a user of a Surface Laptop 2 I was really happy with that product, decided to treat myself and upgrade to the Surface Laptop 5 but it’s not why I expected. Battery life is very poor and gets very noisy even without doing any intensive task. What a shame cause it is a beautiful machine.

Given that this laptop runs almost as much as a MacBook, and is more expensive than other windows based options with similar spec’s, I would’ve expected it to run much faster. It could barely handle chrome and excel running simultaneously. I returned it within 2 weeks.
