Sleek and Snappy. I love it.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m really liking this new Surface Laptop with Windows 11. This is my fourth Surface product and I’ve liked them all. This one is no exception. Right out of the box I loved the sage color that I chose. It’s subtle and modern looking. Not overbearing or gawdy. The laptop is very slim and relatively lightweight for its size, battery, and touchscreen capabilities. As with my other Surface devices, I like Microsoft’s proprietary magnetic charging cable. I worry less about breaking something when I forget to unplug it before standing up from a chair or when the dog trips over the chord walking behind my recliner. I also like knowing that I can charge it (albeit more slowly) with a standard USB-C charger should I ever forget my main cable on a trip. Setup was super easy. Windows 11 walks you right through everything. From location and keyboard settings to connecting to wifi, to downloading and installing updates. All that you really need to do is answer the questions as prompted and be patient while the system updates. Be prepared to spend a few hours getting things set up if you are coming from a different laptop and have a lot of software to reload and configure. If this is your first device or you don’t care about migrating software/data from an old laptop then you will be up and running in minutes. This laptop is really snappy. The combination of a solid processor and very good (for integrated) graphics makes it very responsive. I’m a gamer, so I have a couple of high end desktop and mobile rigs that I use when I’m looking to crush young kid’s hopes and dreams of becoming a pro gamer. But, they are huge, heavy, and run hot. They aren’t viable for portable gaming. This little unit, however, does just fine. If I turn down the settings, I can effectively run all of the games that I currently play. It’s not going to handle super intensive games very well, and certainly not on anything more than minimal settings, but for simple/older games, or online poker and Facebook games it will do well. The hard drive isn't huge, but that's not an issue for me. I store most of my data in the cloud, and only keep large files locally when I'm actively working on them. I usually only have a couple of large games on it at a time simply because I really only game on it when traveling and just need something to goof around with. My "real" gaming stuff is on other computers. If you are the type of person who stores years worth of pics and videos on your laptop rather than in the cloud, you will probably have to invest in an external hard drive to increase your capacity. The touch screen is great. I honestly don’t use it a ton, but when I need to pinch and zoom to see something or I want to scroll around in a document or web site, it’s quite nice to have. I haven’t had any issues with the screen. Corners work great and I feel like it “clicks” where I’m touching the screen. I also have a surface pen so I can use it for digital artwork. It’s not the easiest thing to master, especially if you are coming from physical media, but you can make some pretty incredible stuff if you stick with it and learn how to use the tools. Finally, I use it quite a bit for work, and when I want to quickly sketch a process map or workflow while in a team meeting, it's really handy. The resolution and brightness are awesome. It’s super crisp and clear. I love it. I do have a fedw things for you to keep in mind. 1. If you are coming from an older machine, makes sure you do a little research and figure out how to migrate any older software to a Windows 11 machine beforehand. 2. Do yourself a favor and get a version with 16gb of RAM. 8 just isn’t enough IMHO. 3. Give it time to finish downloading and installing ALL updates before you dive into setting up all your software and games. I didn’t wait, and I found that it was a little clunky when I tried to install and configure a lot of stuff while it was already busy downloading and installing a million updates. It really comes to life AFTER it’s done updating. Give it a chance. 4. It's not a huge screen. If your eyes are a little older like mine, you might have to change the text and/or object scaling a bit. It's easy to do; a simple Windows 11 setting. Just don't think you are stuck with tiny text if you find yourself squinting at the screen. This is a great laptop. It’s not cheap, but I trust the MS brand. It hasn’t let me down. I definitely recommend this unit if it’s in your price range.

Open-box does not match with description provided
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wanna share my experience with Open-box item. I ordered for one with "Fair" state. I expected it to have couple of scratches. However, upon receiving item in store I quickly check it. I found following: - Keyboard was so dirty as if someone eat food on it. - it had microsoft account and passport setup. I returned it quickly. So even if description for "Fair" says: - Works like new. Restored to factory settings. item has not been even cleaned nor factory reset

Sent me the wrong item
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im sure the surface was a really great product but best buy sent me some ear buds instead. Its been 2 weeks, I still haven’t received a refund or replacement laptop. I bought it on sale and saved $500 and they wont sell me another one for the same price. Theyre basically punishing me because of their mistake. So now im out of a laptop and they expect me to pay full price. Probably will not be using best buy again.

Buy a mac instead
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Battery dies in 3 hours of continuous work time. It gets very hot Windows 11 is highly annoying - everything wants to sync and it took a lot of effort to avoid that in the security settings I’d return if I could..and go with my original plan of an airbook. This is a very over rated laptop
