Wouldn’t recommend just purchased and already broken and not turning on. Took it to get it repaired and they said it was fixed, four days later and I have the same issue.

    My Surface Laptop Go

I bought this in 2021, it is now 2024. I got this since my freshman year of high school (I’m a senior now, time went by fast omg) I have used to countless times, and there has been no issue with it. The battery lasts my whole day at school so I don’t worry about needing to charge it at school. Personally I love how the screen is design, it is so cute. The performance still is the same as if I just bought it.

    Great laptop with odd omissions

Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews. The first thing I noticed with the Surface Laptop Go was the build. Very solid. All components feel sturdy with no corners cut on the finish and the components. Keys have a nice spring and the trackpad is very responsive. The fingerprint reader has not failed me once! That's a big plus for me. Although the screen is only 12.4" on paper, the orientation/shape of the screen is perfect for the small form factor. The color was sandstone, which my wife wanted to be sure I mentioned she loves. :-) Ok... Processing power- the i5 is definitely noticed. I had no slowdowns in my daily processing. This moves like my home system for those tasks. Multiple windows, spreadsheets, pictures, etc. it whizzed right along. There were a few times the fan kicked up, but that's to be expected. No issues with memory cache as 8GB for a travel and go laptop is plenty. The S mode- short and sweet, I don't prefer "ecosystems," which is why I always preferred Windows to Apple. S mode appears to be Microsoft's attempt to build it's own ecosystem. Only Microsoft supported software can be used/installed. No Chrome. It's nice that it can be toggled on/off, but that leads me to believe it may not be in the future. I understand that using Microsoft supported software will most likely make your system run smoother, I just prefer the option to choose. That option IS present on this laptop, but I would have preferred it be off by default. This doesn't sway my review, just a perspective on what it is. The screen resolution is not full HD, but for the purpose of this machine. I didn't notice. Youtube videos were still sharp, text was clear and pictures popped. Some darker colors appear a bit washed out, but that was the extent of the "what's wrong." This sort of counts as an omission, but I can understand why the choice was made for this machine. My first note of omission is lack of expandable storage. I understand cloud data storage is becoming the bread and butter, but there is still a need for at least a micro sd card. USB A and C ports are available for hard drives, but in the age of carrying as little as possible, a simple card slot would have done wonders for expanding the laptop's usage. No backlit keyboard. A very odd thing to leave out, especially since the power button has a lit border. Simply doing that to all the keys would have sufficed, but alas, unless your vision is great, you will need a light source for usage. Lastly, proprietary charging. One of the great things I noticed with travel systems is the shift to USB C charging. One cable could charge your phone, laptop, headphone, etc. This laptop uses a specialty magnet charger. Works great, but it adds another charger to your carry bag. Just another note for the "minimalist" worker. In short, this is a great machine that will definitely give you what you need in the market of travel, chrome books, etc. While it does feel like a premium product, a few of the omissions are odd. Still, it would be a great recommendation.

Meant to Be Basic and Gets It Done

*I received this laptop from Best Buy as part of the Best Buy Insider Tech program (I did not buy it). Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews. This review is solely my views and opinions.* I gave this 5 stars because I feel like it is meant to be a basic laptop, and for being that, it gets the job done. It does what it needs to. The design of this laptop is nice and sleek. I like the icy blue color. A lighter blue is the bottom portion (the keyboard). A grayish blue for the top portion (the screen). I like the 2-tone actually. It's small (12.4"), so bigger than your average-sized tablet, but still portable. I found it a bit heavy for its size, but I own laptops and tablets. This is my first portable laptop of this size. It is also quite sleek in design. The charging port is on the right (if you are facing the open laptop) and it is the only thing over there. The charging port is horizontal (the size of a memory card slot). And the part that plugs into it is horizontal so it sits flush with the laptop. At first I thought this was weird, but it is so much better than it sticking out. While I am talking about charging, the charging took quite long. So when I finished setting it up, it was at 20% and set on "Best Battery Life." It finished charging at 1 hr 45 min, BUT it kept giving me shorter times remaining and then increasing it. Nonetheless... Also, one downside to the charging, when you are charging, a white light illuminates on the part that goes in the charging port. This stays illuminated because it is plugged in; not because it is charging. When it finishes charging, it still stays illuminated. So there was no indication that charging was complete. Odd. I found that the power button was very hot for a keyboard button. Not burn your finger or hand hot. But quite hot. Is it because it reads fingerprints? I don't know. The biggest highlight of this laptop is the keyboard. The keyboard is a WINNER!! I have never been so enthralled over a keyboard (laptop or stand-alone. Everything is so smooth. The keyboard keys are nice to the touch and typing feels effortless. You keys go down without feeling pressure. Also the touchpad, sheesh!, smooth like glass. I love the entire keyboard piece. Video is okay for a basic laptop. Someone who is not into needing video to be top notch will be just fine with this. Also sound is just sound. Nothing pretty. Setup was fairly easy. I was able to do the fingerprint scan (unlike my regular laptop, which didn't take my fingerprint). I let it link to my phone, because I was curious. This was easy also and it works just fine but you have to put the app on your phone (of course) and on the laptop, which required an immediate update. Startup is quick. And it takes my fingerprint right away and then the desktop is up in 1 second (if even that long). I installed my Office and that was easy. All the office apps work fine and as expected. I set up one of my emails on it... also all good. Overall, I would recommend this laptop to the very basic user who needs or wants portability. Whether it is a college student, or needing a quick on-the-go laptop, or anyone. Like I said, it gets the job done. Peace.

One step to perfection: The keyboard back light... I wish it has it. This Surface Laptop has a capable intel i5 10th generation processor. The first thing I've done with it (after all the updates) is to turn off the S mode to unlock all the potentials and install my daily use programs. It works really fast and kind of quite (after finishing all the win10 updates). To mention here, most computers with win10 will really need some time before delivering the best experience. A lot of updates and works are running in background that make the fan runs very often and kind of loud. The best I recommend is to keep the computer connected to power, set the sleep mode to never and let it sit over night... Restart it in the morning and here you go. Keyboard is very nice and has good feeling typing. Keys position is very good. The only down side is the "no back light" but I think it is manageable for most users. Screen is very crisp and clear. Enough lit (for me at least). Good resolution and adequate refresh rate. Very good for office and school use. Easy portable thanks to the small dimension and the light weight. Microsoft decided this laptop won't have a tablet mode. That would make a better use for the very nice touch screen and the design. Camera is good enough for the daily new life style thanks to COVID-19 (Zoom, video conf,...) the sound is good enough. Microphones work very well capturing your voice. I mostly use my Bluetooth earbuds. Bluetooth works very fine. I tried several Earbuds and they all work just fine. Surface Laptop also has the audio jack. It is handy have indeed. This laptop is WiFi 6 ready. I still don't have a WiFi 6 router (yet) but as tested, the wifi connection is fast enough. The range is good and no complains at all. There are 2 USB connectors on the left side. One is USB-C can also charges the laptop, the second one is a regular USB. On the right side you have the Surface special expansion connector: Surface Connect Port. The keyboard as the Fn lock key which can be very handy. There is also a nice fingerprint (the power button) that works really nice and every time. Easy to set up and very convenient. Ambient light sensor works fine adjusting the screen brightness when light changes. Touch pad works very nice. It is not very big but just doing the job fine. Nice and smooth touch, very fast response. Windows 10 is running the show very nicely. In summary, this is a very nice laptop that is priced well and packaged good. Providing nice work (and entertainment) experience with all the nice features it has. I'd recommend it for any daily light to moderate use. S mode can be easily turned off! Laptop has long lasting battery and small dimensions providing very good portability. I was sent this Surface Laptop Go by Microsoft to test and review. I'd still recommend it to a friend and I'd still buy one for my personal and work use.

Great Looking, Quality Feel, and Fast

I'm very happy with almost everything about this Surface Laptop Go. Every part that you touch has a very high quality to feel. It's very nice to look at and to use. The keyboard is wonderful to type on and I really like the fingerprint reader on the power button. Outside of look and feel, the Surface Laptop Go is also very light and easy to carry. The 12.4"-inch screen size is large enough that I can still be productive but is small enough to remain very portable. And the thing is fast. It loads fast and I've done nearly everything that I would normally do: Video calls, webinars, Word, Excel, etc. I haven't experienced any slowing down as of yet. So far nothing that I've done has slowed it down, even when multitasking. It does a great job of staying out of the way. I just grab it and do what I need to and put it. The battery life has been great. I only have to charge it every other day for the most part, utilizing hibernate rather than just leaving it on when I'm done. As much as I like it, there are two things that I feel are missing. I don't knock the laptop because I got it knowing that it didn't have them, but they're definitely something that I'd wish for. The first is a higher resolution screen. It's clear enough that it's not a bother at normal distance, but if you lean in to look closely at something you can really see the pixels. The second is a backlit keyboard. With that said, I'd still highly recommend the Surface Laptop Go. The speed and quality of the laptop far make up for the shortcomings for my use. Ultra-portable yet fast, responsive laptop

This review is specific to the Microsoft - Surface Laptop Go with the 12.45" Touch-Screen, Intel 10th Generation Core i5 processor, 8GB Memory, and 256GB Solid State Drive. It should be noted that I am a member of the Best Buy Tech Insider Network Program which means I received this product from Best Buy but I did not buy it. Reviewers in this invitation-only program are provided products for the purpose of writing honest, unbiased reviews and that is exactly what I am providing. To start, I must admit I was a little worried about how much I would like the Microsoft Surface Laptop Go given how small it is. I am used to using laptops in the 15.6” range and this particular one comes in at 12.45” which is significantly smaller. It didn’t take long for my initial worry to fade away once the product arrived. The fact that it is significantly smaller is actually a very good thing because of how ultra-portable it makes this laptop without sacrificing performance and I also really like how stylish it is. The laptop runs smooth and fast despite its size not only when it comes to basic usage such as multiple tabbed internet browsing concurrently with other common applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. but even during video calls. I didn’t try any serious gaming since it isn’t designed for that, but basic browser-based games seemed to work well enough despite the lack of a GPU. As long as you understand that this laptop is designed more for basic usage while being ultra-portable and that is the kind of laptop you are looking for, you can’t go wrong with the Microsoft – Surface Laptop Go and I highly recommend it!

I've had this laptop for about 3 months now and I love *almost* everything about it. It's really almost perfect, but if I could give it, like, 4.8 stars I would, only because of the charging port/cable. First off, let me say that I love how lightweight and slim the cable is, and that it's a 2-prong plug instead of three. However, rather than having a traditional charging port, it's got what looks like a memory card insert. The end of the cable has this strip that slides into the slot that, theoretically, is held in place by a magnet. This works fine as long as it's sitting undisturbed on a table top. If something tugs on the cable a little bit though, it falls out. Obviously not a huge issue, but it happens very frequently when you're using it on a couch, bed, etc. All things considered, this is not a big deal, and obviously didn't keep me from leaving 5 stars, but it is annoying and I would change it if I could.
