Microsoft Surface Laptop go Is a winner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very attractive computer! It is light and small enough to carry in a purse or tote, yet has enough computing power to do basic computing, e-mail, MS office, watching Netflix etc. The only downside is that it does not have a backlit keyboard. Not sure why the left that out. Not a deal breaker for me though. The ice blue color is gorgeous!

ummm...Its a hard pass for me.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yea its a no for me. It is very Nice aesthetically. Functionally is okay. The specs are lacking. Just not worth what they are asking for. Might as well spring for macbook air for 200 more and get a real bang for your buck. Laptop is sub par. Will be taking back and exchanging for something better.

Pretty But Poorly Made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these computers. One was the 128 GB version, the other was 256. I'd never owned a microsoft before, but I'm an author, so after I saw the tall screen I knew I needed it for editing. After using the first one for a week, I couldn't even consider going back to a normal-sized screen. But then the first computer decided not to start. After a week. It took me fifteen minutes to get it booted up after shutting it down--screen was black, not updating or anything. It just wouldn't start. Twenty minutes later, I finally got it turned on. I erased my stuff off of it and returned that sucker so I wasn't stuck with it. After looking for another computer with a tall screen (3:2 ratio) and finding nothing, I grudgingly bought another Surface Laptop Go. I hoped the problem the other one had was just a fluke. It wasn't. The second computer didn't have issues starting, but the touch screen had a terrible lag right out of the box. The apps lagged, and all my documents would go blank as soon as I started scrolling. This computer's specs are good enough that it should be able to handle writing and editing in microsoft word, but it can't even do that! I returned the second computer, too, and forked over the money for a Surface Laptop. The screen is gorgeous and the perfect size, and it's really pretty. But even as I'm typing this, the speakers have white noise--A problem I googled, and apparently Microsoft has known about it for 2-3 years without fixing it, even in the older models of this brand new computer. It also buzzes faintly whenever I stop working actively--another problem Microsoft won't fix that has existed for a while and been complained about by a TON of people. Basically, I've come to the conclusion that Microsoft makes crappy computers... but the screens are the perfect size, and as an author who edits my own stuff, I can't justify returning the dang thing over a buzz and a some white noise. If you don't need a tall screen, DON'T buy Microsoft. Just don't. Three crappy computers right out of the box is NOT a coincidence. If you do need a tall screen, join the crowd. Maybe if enough of us complain, they'll finally get around to fixing their tech.

If you're looking to throw away $899...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.$899? You're better off going with something far better within this price range. This $899 price tag doesn't justify anything else other than its premium feeling build. Thats just about it. If you have $899 lying around to pay for this, than might as well spend another $200 or so and grab yourself the MacBook Air M1 version if you're looking for performance, build quality and you really want to get your moneys worth. Its silent, cool to the touch when in use, performance is top tier, and its battery life is excellent. Don't forget that you get a BACKLIT KEYBOARD. (The Surface Laptop Go doesn't have a one, other than the FingerPrint reader.) This on the other hand chugs the battery like crazy and its built for doing BASIC tasks (email checks, web browsing, school work, Zoom settings etc). No more no less.
