While some wish for a backlit keyboard and more storage, the positive feedback on portability and speed outweighs these concerns. The sleek design is also frequently praised.

From the outside, this laptop has a small form factor with sleek looks. The silver color stands out and as much as I touch the top cover, my fingerprints are not creating smudges. The magnetic power cord attaches in the right rear on the side. I have seen so many laptops destroyed over the years by power cord issues, so a magnetic/breakaway connection is my favorite option. There are no other connections on the right side. The left side has a USB-A port, USB-C port, and an audio jack. Underneath, there are two small rubber pads (top and bottom) running the entire width of the case. This not only adds stability, but it also increases the probability that some rubber will always be in contact with the surface it is sitting on. Once open, the keyboard has a comfortable key size. My fingers are not accidentally hitting adjacent keys. As a first, I really like that the function key is latching like caps lock, and it has a light to show whether or not it is on. This is so much nicer than having to guess or hit extra keys. If the light is illuminated, the top row functions as “F” keys. When the light is off, those keys are the volume, brightness, and everything else we expect in modern keyboards. At the far right, there is a power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor. I like how subtle yet easily accessible it is. The track pad is massive relative to the size of the machine. It works very well and is comfortable to use. Alternatively, the screen is a touchscreen so I can tap directly on it. Although the screen looks really nice, it is glossy and easily reflects the bright fluorescent lights in my office. I have to adjust the angle to avoid seeing the lights behind me more than text on the screen. If they make a glare filter, it would be helpful in those situations. The viewing angle is basically head on. Viewing at any other angle tends to increase glare. In some ways, this is beneficial in public. The size of the laptop is perfect to sit on an airplane tray table. With a limited viewing angle, it reduces concern for prying eyes. So this could be a perfect machine for traveling. It should be noted that this is a true laptop in that there is no tablet function allowing the screen to flip back 180/360 degrees. It looks like it stops at about 120 degrees. For benchmark testing, this is a nice little machine for light demand. It is definitely not made to be a gaming machine. Graphics are excellent for video and the needs of an average computer user - especially in a business setting. I am really happy with the video quality. There is no motion blur while watching HD video and colors are really vivid. The card is not made for gaming, but the SSD is made for tough demands. It received a score of 159% indicating really high performance. There are 4.3 GB of memory available with Edge and task manager open. That will handle most activities, but I would be worried about using this for an advanced level PowerPoint presentation. The processor initially received a score of 60.5% which is significantly lower than expected for that model. I ran the test a second time which changed to 63.4%, so still not anything spectacular. However, it can easily handle routine tasks. Opening, closing, and alternating through apps are all easily handled. For the size of this computer, it is impossible to fit high performing speakers. However, the speakers sound pretty good considering their size. I am not even sure where they are located, but I am satisfied with the sound quality. It is always challenging to determine battery life in the beginning because the machine is updating and I am really focused on installing apps. So far, I can confirm that the runtime is at a minimum, average. But it is probably above average for laptops. Overall, I am happy with the looks and performance. I can’t complain because the computer does exactly what it was designed to do - everyday tasks. I would recommend it to my friends as long as I know they are not making massive PowerPoint presentations or wanting to play intense games.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 is a fantastic laptop for anyone looking for a well rounded, easy to use laptop for everyday use. Coming in right at 2.5 pounds, this laptop is light and easy to transport. The sage green color has a beautiful finish to it. The computer comes with 2 inputs a standard USB and a USB-C port along with a headphone jack. The touch screen is responsive and bright and the keyboard is snappy and feels at home right away under my fingers. Initial setup only took me a few minutes and I put the computer through normal testing to see how it would respond. Apps are snappy and load quick due to the SSD onboard Hard drive. With no moving parts anymore Hard drives have come a long way in reliability and speed. The graphics card in this laptop isn't going to be top of the line, but it handles Youtube and streaming videos very well so it should do the job for most consumers. Sitting with it on my lap while typing this review the laptop stays quiet and cool which is a plus as well because some laptops tend to get very uncomfortably hot after a while. Windows 11 also comes with the computer and has a very Apple like OS feel to it that I enjoy and is very user friendly. Overall this laptop is a great choice for anyone looking for a normal everyday laptop for at home or school work. The Microsoft Surface series is a very dependable line and you can't go wrong with this Laptop!

This is my second Surface laptop. First one died a horrible accidental death when something from the nickknack shelf toppled off and fell corner first onto the laptop and punctured the back of the screen cover which rendered it unusable and unrepairable :( Good news is this new version was in budget for a replacement and is a good go to option for what I need it for. I do a lot of remote and on site / travel work that requires some data entry and occasional some web use for various reasons. This is up to the task and is also compact and lightweight enough for me to slide into my back pack without feeling like I am carrying a load of bricks. Set up and sync are easy out of the box and I was up and running fairly quick. The touch screen is easy to use and a nice addition that I actually missed when my last one died and I had to use one without it. Battery life so far is good to average, though I am cynical on battery life claims, as I find they rarely live up to what they claim. We will see how this plays out. Webcam seems to be as good or better than the previous model, though I do not use this often for what I need this for. I personally recommend this model as it fits my portable/travel/work lap top needs. I have a more powerful computer at home for the heavier duty uses that require more memory larger screen etc. This is a great option if you go in knowing what you are getting.

This is a solid versatile laptop. It has a touch screen, but can not be separated to be used as a tablet. There are not an abundance of ports only one dongle slot, but there are fewer things to connect that way these days. It is on the small side which can make typing feel cramped. The display is clear and easy to see. Even though it is small it is not the lightest laptop I have carried. It is fairly intuitive to set up. You will need to add any of the Microsoft programs that you want to use on your own. It seems like a pretty traditional laptop with nothing particularly special to set it apart. The color is appealing and soothing. Smooth opening and closing. Touch pad is responsive. Keys are reasonable to type on, I’m sure it will become second nature in no time. Camera and microphone work sufficiently for online meetings although I was having a hard time hearing last meeting and I’m not sure if the volume is restricted on the speakers or if the microphone on the other end wasn’t as ideal as needed.

What an all around GREAT small laptop for travel as well as daily tasks! Mine has the 256Gb/8Gb configuration in the sage colorway and the build quality of this machine is simply wonderful. It feels and looks like a much more expensive product and I have received numerous compliments on it, especially when travelling on a plane where I sit next closely next to people. Unboxing this product showed the contents included: • Surface Laptop Go 2 • 39W Power Supply • Quick Start Guide • Safety and warranty documents As with most manufacturers these days, care is taken to make the boxing and materials aesthetically pleasing as first impressions mean something. This unit has that feel. The fit and finish of the aluminum chassis, the keyboard, the track pad all have a premium quality. The screen, while not 4k, is definitely pleasing and gets plenty bright, even in a very brightly lit room. The sound of the speakers is quite amazing for such a small form factor. Using this machine on a 4 hour flight with a mix of doing business and watching a downloaded movie showed the battery go from 98% to 47% and this was with 4 straight hours of use. For a small product, I thought this was wonderful and would have lasted me another 4 hours if needed. The fan only came on a bit during the movie playback and was not an obnoxious loud. Very impressed. My one con: The unit comes with the proprietary charger usable to only Microsoft Surface products and this is what allows the fast-charging capability. For the life of me I will never understand why companies do not use the industry standard USB – C as the only way to charge their devices. I would venture to say there is not one person out there that wants another cord plugged in to their wall to charge a different device. THANKFULLY, this laptop does charge with the USB-C port but you lose the fast-charging capability. Not an issue for me. Overall, if you in the market for a small, very light and portable laptop, look no further! This product checks all the boxes for a relatively inexpensive but premium feeling product!

I like surface laptops and tablets. And I don't mind spending my hard earned cash on something that I can use to it's limits. Unfortunately this Surface Go does not go anywhere in my opinion. Yes the design and look is great. Windows is pretty stable on here and so far it is decent for it's price. But if you spend just a few hundred dollars more, you get so much more. The build quality is there. However that is where it ends for me. There's no backlit keyboard and you cannot use the Surface Pen on this. The software is there, but it is not compatible when writing this review. The laptop does get really hot on the lap when using for about an hour. The battery is ok, but it should be more than that, especially at the new stage. The ports are ok, there is nothing really redeeming about this laptop. The keyboard layout is ok and there is nothing "Surface" feeling about it at all. It feels like a Chromebook. And that is disappointing. I really wanted to like this laptop and for what it's worth, I do not believe it's worth any of my cash going forward.

Quality starts with packaging and here Microsoft does not disappoint. The box is so solid it is hard to believe it is made from card board! Incredible tolerances say quality even before it is out of the box. It didn't stay in the box long though once I had my hands on it as I was very excited to make this mine! This is an incredibly slim lightweight laptop that feels like it is made from a solid piece of metal. I have worked on some high end units with plastic enclosures that don't feel anywhere near as solid as this. No need to be shy next to your apple friends this unit is sleek and highly functional. The display is bright and sharp and pleasant to watch whether I am reading email, books, spreadsheets, presentations or a movie. I didn't try any gaming as I don't think this would be a good match for that task. The touch screen sensitivity is just right and a pleasure to use. This is a laptop so the screen does not rotate or bend over backwards to create a tablet. The size, however is just perfect for someone on the go and easily fits on my economy tray table while flying. Truly my only complaint is the proprietary charging cable is a little ridiculous when USB C can absolutely preform the function without the need to worry about carrying around a uni-tasker. That said all the other features make this something I can live with easily. Setup was very fast and easy with no extraware products getting the way unless you consider the trial offer for Microsoft 360 extraware. This is not a monster in terms of storage or data crunching but it is very fast for all the usual stuff you need on the go. Exceptional quality and feel for a very reasonable price. Enjoy!

Quality: The Microsoft - Surface Laptop Go 2 is uniquely designed with the kind of aesthetics you would expect from Microsoft. The case is a great design choice. I have used this with the Microsoft pencil which worked great being a few years old. The form factor is small and compact yet feels just right. Very impressed with the keyboard and the feel. I hate most trackpads, but really enjoyed using this one. The quickness of setting up the laptop was amazing. I believe this form factor is the right size and has the right components which are very solid. Performance: I tested several apps and used Microsoft Teams without fail. All of the apps worked and installed from my previous experience with Windows 11. I didn’t have to wait long to use the new system. The finger print reader works every time. It was easy to setup and had not anxiety or stress getting everything going on. Hardware: The processor and GPU combo make this a great laptop and the apps all launched flawlessly very quick. I enjoy working on this laptop and the typing on this keyboard is priceless. Very impressed with the quality and how quiet it is to use. I really appreciate this hardware and its technology built in beyond belief. Overall: The experience with using the laptop by itself or in a docking station is amazing to say the least. I am very impressed how all of this works. This is an amazing time we live in and these type of advancements are priceless. I am so glad I have this laptop and looking forward to many more years with this type of tech. Very amazing and priceless technology.

From the get-go I had a bad feeling. At the beginning of setup I somehow got caught up in the audio assistant web and was unable to escape until I had nearly completed my task. A major annoyance. And I still can't figure out how I might have angered my Surface. I have relatively simple requirements of my laptops and tablets: web browsing & shopping, email, simple spreadsheeting and word processing, YouTube & Pinterest, occasionally TV, videos and movies. As far as video/audio, the Surface is superb. Images are crisp and sharp with no blurring and jerking. Audio is borderline exciting. Although I wear hearing aids, I could still hear across the wide spectrum of sounds and did not feel as though I missed anything. I test audio on all devices using Emmy Lou Harris "Red Dirt Girl" and the fullness of the instrumentation and voice was nearly perfect; my wife even commented how good the Surface sounded. I do find particularly helpful that in Windows 11, I can add most of my frequently used apps to the Start menu. My only significant problems are (1) the Go 2 is not a good choice for those with XL or greater hands. Just too many errant keystrokes or missed screen taps. And (2) this "little thing" is simply too heavy to carry around.

    Retirement PC for me....

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I needed a new computer for my new life path. Leaving behind corporate America and the free PC. After careful Review I selected the Surface Laptop Go 2. I have an iPad for surf city and media. I still dabble in Excel and it runs like mud on Apple devices. So, this was the logical chose. Small 13in format. Connects to external screen with Hub. No ext monitor port. Screen clarity is great and it's my intro to MSWIN.11 OS- which is functioning just fine. I actual like it a little better than 10. Cleaner look to it. But miss the easy of a side bar task bar. It only orients to the bottom - ( you can force it but it is hack then and not a feature - TMW) Keeping MS365 off it took a little doing. However, my Ofc2019 on my home ported in with no coaxing. One tiny caveat is that it has a plastic case bottom. Not my favorite way for MS to cut costs. Overall 4.8 stars !! I have had it for about a month now.
