Good if you need a pencil, but you probably don’t.

The sales associate suggested it to complete the package but the gift recipient has sloppy handwriting normally and the pencil replicates that. There might be programs that smooth the motion for you but for him the pencil is just unnecessary, as it probably is for anyone who is not drawing free-hand on their tablet. I have my own pencil for my ipad and I find it MUCH more difficult to draw with this than with a lead pencil on paper.

I chose the red so it would be harder to loose. The pen is actually more of a burnt orange color than red. I like using my pen to handwrite notes using MS OneNote. The pen is accurate enough to draw some nice pictures on your tablet as well.

My first experience with a Surface Pen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was the first time I've ever used a pen with a laptop but it's been fun learning all of the things I can do with it using Windows Ink Workspace as well as editing screenshots from Snipping Tool or making notes on a document. It's much more versatile and useful than I expected. It can also work somewhat like a mouse for scrolling, moving the screen around or pointing at and manipulating objects on the screen.

Way Better than Any Stylus

Initially I debated about whether or not I needed, what I considered to be, a glorified stylus for $99. I'm so happy I decided to just buy it. It makes working on the Surface so easy and it only took a few seconds to get set up. I love that it is magnetic and sticks to the end of my Surface so I'm never looking around for it. It's especially helpful when I use my Surface in tablet mode. Highly recommended!
