They are using it for drawing/art projects/animation on the tablet. One of our first was defective and required 2 trips back to BB to replace... annoying but it happens. Only rating 4 stars as they are expensive--even on sale. Samsung must be making a boat load of $$s on these-- but Apple is no different. Understand there are alternate manufacturers but do your research to ensure quality before purchasing one of those.

Good pen

It works great and it looks just like my handwriting (good or bad thing). There have been a couple of times it glitched or was a little slow but it was a short term thing that didn't cause too much issue (may even be a computer thing). The other thing is that the covering around the tip of my pen broke. The pen still works no problem but I worry about the tip breaking without that covering. I've also struggled to fine replacements.

Must Have Accessory for Surface Pro

Of course you can write, select, and draw with it but you can also control PowerPoint presentations, write to text, and so much more. I am still discovering new functions but I highly recommend purchasing the pen for your surface pro to get the most out of it.

A Game-Changer

I can bring a PDF into OneNote and then write on it as if I were filling out a form. I presume I could print it out then if I wanted to but I've not tried that yet. I've not travelled with it so I don't know how easily I'll misplace/lose it. But so far it's my favorite part.

Good Pen with Significant Software Hurdles
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is the first Surface Pen I've bought, and I chose it specifically because I wanted an easy way to mark up documents and textbooks while using my new Surface Pro 2017. Unfortunately, the tablet no longer is sold with the pen - a huge knock on MSFT to start - but the benefits of spending the extra $99 on one are substantial. It's very responsive, extremely easy to use and makes for a helpful stand-in for a trackpad/mouse (an issue iPad Pro owners are all too familiar with). Unfortunately, there are some issues with my unit. The button at the top only intermittently works - immediately after pairing, it works perfectly, but then a week after I'll try to use it to pull up OneNote or take a screenshot and it does literally nothing. I'm not sure why this is - the battery is brand new. It's not a deal breaker for me as I rarely use the shortcut, but it is an important feature of the pen that I think should have been ironed out before it went on sale. Either way, I'm happy with my purchase and it really completes the Surface Pro set for me.

Best Surface Pen I have used

I have seen the pen progress over the period. This is the most precious pen I could use it in my software engineering and other engineering diagrams and documentation including taking notes. The only thing I would like to see in this is having light(s) that could tell me if I using that particular shade of color, writing, erasing etc. tasks.
