Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the Surface Pro Type Cover's high-quality keyboard, ease of use, and lightweight design. Many also enjoy the available color options and the protection it offers the screen. However, some find the price to be a significant drawback, and a few have experienced connection issues. Other less frequent concerns include the lack of a number pad and the impact on battery life.

I love the fact that I can disconnect my Surface Pro Type Cover from my Surface Pro 4. It is very easy to disconnect and reconnect to the Pro 4 because it is magnetized. Even though it is quite compact it is still easy to use the keys, especially when you have big hands. Microsoft has really hit a home run with this product.

The Type Cover 4 is an absolute must have to the Surface Pro 4 or Pro 3. Yes the Surface is a tablet, but it is a tablet that replaces your laptop and it can't do that without the Type Cover. The keys have great travel distance and I find type on it to be comfortable and I actually prefer it to my Apple Wireless keyboard.

What can you say. Its a keyboard. Feels awkward at first but you get used to it. The tactile response is good and the touchpad is much improved. One star knocked off because the keyboard is not included with a $800 machine and charging $130 for it. If you are marketing the Surface Pro as a laptop replacement or a Mac Air killer then you really need to include the keyboard.

This was the nices part of my Surface Pro 4 experience. It worked great with the SP4 tablet when the table actually worked. I could type just as fast on this as I could type on a regular detached keyboard or an attached laptop keyboard. If you have a SP3, you should at least upgrade to this new version of the type cover. Why the Type Cover isn't included with the Surface Pro is beyond me, especially since Microsoft has apologized for their crummy effort in Windows 10.

The keyboard is great. It's easy to use, lightweight, looks cool and protects the computer. It was a good choice. The salesman was really helpful in getting us just what we needed at a good price.

Dont let this review fool you. Im not a huge fan of the keyboard....however, I am getting used to it. It is a little small for my liking although it does fit the Surface Pro 4 perfectly. I am used to a full size keyboard and I have rather large hands. It does function extremely well. Besides being bigger, I wish that I could have gotten the keyboard that has the fingerprint reader in the red! And I did write this review using the keyboard attached to the Pro 4!

I have used so many bad table keyboards, that I was amazed with how well this one works. The keys feel like a conventional click keyboard, spacing is good, the two position magnet lets me incline the keyboard which seems to relieve stress on my wrists. The track pad is smooth and easy to use without looking at it.

    EXCELLENT Keyboard Cover

The Type Cover for the Surface Pro 4 is an amazing (and, really, an essential) accessory for the Surface Pro 4, or even the Surface Pro 3, if you need a new one (yes, this IS compatible with the SP3). The keys are well spaced, the blacklight keys are bright and easy to see while typing in the dark, the glass trackpad screams 'QUALITY' with every use. When folded back, the keyboard disables to prevent accidental keystrokes, and the fold length does NOT reach far enough to cover up the Surface Pro's rear-facing camera and microphone. It is, in every way, an improvement from the SP3's type cover. There are only 2 (minor) drawbacks: 1) It requires cleaning once in a while. Oils from your hands, given enough time, give it an 'unclean' feel, and you have to wash (yes, that's right, WASH) the Type Cover. There are instructions in the paper manual that comes with the type cover on how best to do this, so don't fret too much. 2) Fold-back can feel awkward. When reversing the keyboard, and attempting to hold and use your Surface Pro, having the keys 'clicking' under your fingers with every slight motion can be kind of annoying. However, if this REALLY comes to bother you, the type cover is easily removed.

Feels like a real keyboard and the keys are also back lit for dark environments. I highly recommend this option when purchasing the tablet. It magnetically connects to the bottom and holds on strong. The tablet detects the keyboard automatically so no syncing delays. Most importantly it protects my screen. I haven't purchases tempered glass yet and hope it fits the same. I never last it on hard surfaces that can scratch my Windows logo so the keyboard is always the side I lay it on. Poor keyboard takes a beating and keeps on working. Not to mention when laying on top the keyboard it's easier to open and get started. Adjust your kickstand and lift the screen.

This keyboard has performed very well. The backlighting is nice for use in the dark and the mechanical keys as well as the rigidity is pretty spot on for the small form factor. Sometimes the spacebar doesn't work perfect but if I have it in inclined mode I haven't had any issues (only when it's fully flat). I have tried the older surface keyboard and it's a very nice upgrade with the mechanical keys, backlighting, and larger more responsive touch pad.
