You have to at least try it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like my purple Type Cover 2 w/ backlighting. I also have a Bluetooth keyboard that I can easily use with my Surface Pro. But the Type Cover 2 makes a great cover. I love the 2-finger utilization of the trackpad like the scroll/zoom feature, swipe to show charms or opened apps, etc. Just like using the touchscreen. I didn't like the trackpad buttons, but I did like the fact that you can still left-click by tapping the pad with 2 fingers. I am the type of person that likes to feel the buttons pressed. So this was perfect for me. If you are still not sure if it is for you, you really should go out and try it out for yourself.

huge step up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original keyboard was awful. This is eons ahead. The actual keys are a great change above the touch pad. The back lighting is perfect in a dim room. My only complaint would be the felt around the edges. I hated it on the original too. It's a pain to keep clean.

Must have for you Surface Pro 2
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're like me you hate using the touch screen keyboard. This keyboard is a must-have accessory you cannot do without. It's backlit keys is great and I love the feel of the keyboard. It's compact and has a very small footprint and I love the color. You need to get this keyboard along with the leather case that's designed for it and you'll be good to go. Trust me it's the perfect match and you'll be glad you did.

Type Cover 2 on Surface RT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used Surface RT for around a year, using the "touch" cover during that time. I found that it was a good solution for a cover, and occasional typing, but for more extensive typing I felt I needed to get something with tactile feedback. When I saw that the type cover 2 had been released with improvements over type cover 1, I decided it was time to get one. This keyboard is almost perfect. In fact it's hard to think what could be improved other than perhaps a lower price. This keyboard acts as a cover so it is always with you when you want it protecting your device, and ready for service. Other tablet solutions have removable keyboards, but with this one I find I rarely need to remove the keyboard since it is so thin and can easily flip it out of the way. Flip it to the back and use the tablet as touch only device, or flip it back with the kickstand out and it acts as a platform for your tablet. I like to sit in my recliner when using my Surface, and this keyboard works perfectly fine in my lap as it is rigid enough to not have any noticeable spring. The first gen touch cover had a bit of give to it so it wasn't as nice to type on and in my dark living room, it was impossible to see the keys you were hitting. I'm a touch typist, but with the touch keyboard I couldn't find the keys to properly position my hands. Not so with this keyboard, it has nice raised bumps on the "F" and "G" keys just like many regular keyboards. The backlight is incredible, it even includes multiple levels of brightness controlled by the press of dimmer control keys. Also this keyboard has function keys, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn keys so it will have the keys you expect. The dedicated arrow keys are nice to have and the caps lock has an indicator light on it, something I wouldn't have expected on a keyboard that is so thin. The touchpad does it's job and has a nice velvet feel to it rather than cold plastic. I find it to be sensitive enough, although it doesn't appear to support pinch and zoom gestures, but for that you can simply reach for the screen. As to the thickness and weight, I don't really notice the difference from the first gen touch cover even though I know it is a bit thicker. If I were buying a new Surface, I would definitely want to pair it with they type cover 2 rather than the touch cover, it's worth the extra money. For those wondering if it works well with Surface RT #First gen model# the answer is yes, I'm typing this review on one right now :) The tactile feedback is almost perfect as a dedicated laptop keyboard. Keyboard removal is simple, although not necessary for all the ways I use the device.

Easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a fantastic keyboard. When you slide out of the package and hook up to surface, the keyboard magnetically links up to the surface-nice feature. No installation or download of crazy apps required. No blue tooth installation required unless you buy that accessory to turn the keyboard into a blue tooth accessory. Easy to clean and I have no issues with letting my kids use it.

Brings Microsoft Surface to a whole new level
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I have had my share of frustrations with the Microsoft Surface RT tablet - this Type Cover 2 is so good that it brings the whole system to a higher level. I love the keys that sort of click (like a regular computer keyboard) - much better experience (for me at least) than the Touch cover keyboard/cover that is so flat it is difficult to know whether you hit the keys. It attaches easily to the Surface tablet and stays attached even when you close it. The keys light up! And the color Purple - it is a very nice Purple. If you are a matchy person get the Plum Purple VG Neoprene Sleeve Cover for Microsoft Surface Windows Pro 8 10.6-inch. Fits both the tablet and this keyboard perfectly and has an outside pocket for stuff. And since the Surface has only one USB port, of course you will want a purple Dynex 4-port hub. Did I say I like purple? To all who are considering, please try out this keyboard at Best Buy and compare - I am very glad that I did.

Thin but types like a decent keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface Pro 128 doesn't come with a keyboard of any sort (the surface's main weakness in my opinion). So purchasing a cover/keyboard is pretty much a requirement. The type 2 feels like a keyboard, even though the keys barely depress they just feel "right". The backlight is nice to have, and I can see it coming in handy on "red-eye" flights. The keys are turned off when you flip the cover open and have it over the back of the unit, which is really nice for using this as a tablet (I treat my Surface more like a PC). The only thing I don't like about it is the mousepad, it's very small, and while there are real keys for the keyboard, there aren't buttons for the mouse, just areas of the touchpad that are set aside to act as the buttons. I would still highly recommend this cover/keyboard...I just wish it had come with the Surface initially.

Nice and Simple
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up when I purchased my tablet. I really love the design, thin, simple, and easy to use. I picked up the "type" and not the "touch" because I like the feeling and sound of an actual keyboard. The price may seem a little bit high, the purchase was worth the money and hopefully prices will come down.

Excellent accessory for the Surface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my wife the pink type 2 keyboard, and I have the black. We are both very pleased with each. The backlighting is a very nice touch and addition! LOVE this about it. I do wish these were a little less expensive after having to spend a little more on the surface, but putting price aside, I cannot say anything negative about the keyboard.

great keyboard
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This keyboard is a must have if you have the surface. I know that it is a little pricey compared to the other keyboard but it is worth it. You never realize how much you use the back light and having actual keys instead of touch keys is better as well. No complaints!

Fantastic Evolution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had used the 1st Gen type cover for a few weeks before upgrading to my Surface Pro 2 and new 2nd Gen type cover. I really like the improved track pad. The sensitivity is greatly improved. Multi-touch gestures work much better. Two finger swipes for example mimic what your finger does and are context sensitive. On the start screen a side guesture pans around your tiles. An up and down swipe switch between your default start screen and the all apps menu. In IE the side swipes function as forward and backward while up/down scrolls. Swipe from left/right also moves the mouse for you. So you can select your previous app with only a swipe from the left followed by a tap. No need to move the cursor manually to the charms. Back light is great! What more is there to say. And the feel of the fabric is a change I like very much over the first generation.

Greate keyboard and cover
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome screen cover and portable keyboard. Keys are very responsive, and the click-in attachment is beyond simple. All you have to do is line the connections up on the cover and Surface and the small magnets will click them together. The backlit keys are great and recognize as your hand nears the keyboard. The keys shut off if you flip the cover back and when you close the cover. It also wakes the Surface when you open the keyboard and puts it in sleep when you close it. This is a must-have accessory in my opinion, and really makes Surface a viable laptop replacement.

surface pro 2 is the BOMB!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surface Pro 2 is worth every penny! I wanted a tablet that I could grab and go for work and play. surface pro 2 isn't just a tablet, it's a full fledged computer with windows 8.1 installed. I downloaded security software, no problems. downloaded and use Microsoft Office 365, no problems. working with any application I throw at it, no problems. I can hardly believe everything this tablet will do and it is my go to computer now. amazing technology and kudos to Microsoft! Thank you for exceeding all of my expectations and then some.

Great for the Surface
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This keyboard is great overall. It attaches and detaches easily from the surface and works as a cover. The trackpad was hard to get used to at first but I love it now. The backlit keyboard is a plus too!
