I wasn't sure what to expect with this accessory, but it's very easy to type on and the magnetic connection points where it meets the tablet are so strong that you only need to hold it about a half-inch or so away from the tablet and they jump together. It almost always is aligned perfectly on the first try, but slides easily into the correct position if you can tell that it's not connected all the way.

We purchased this for those rare occasion where would need to do a lot of typing. It's required if you have any intentions of using the Surface for semi-notebook computer duties, like typing up long emails, word docs or entering loads of contacts. But maybe that's just us. To be perfectly honest, they should be selling these at a much lower price point as the build quality just isn't there. The keys feel weak and contribute to an overall impression of low quality. Since we primarily use the Surface in touch mode I don't believe this to be a show stopper but for anyone that expects to pound away on this keyboard regularly, plan on replacing it sooner than you might expect. And for what they are charging for these bad boys, it would be a much better value proposition if they integrated some additional battery capacity in there - otherwise - they should really lower the price. Seriously. + Nice secure yet convenient connectivity to the tablet - Feels cheaply constructed Provides no additional battery support like other tablet mfg's have developed for their platforms Too expensive for what you get I still believe it is a must have accessory so I stop short of recommending NOT buying it but Microsoft needs to step it up a little bit here.

    Great Keyboard wtih Real Feel

This keyboard is very functional for someone who types 60+ WPM and needs the tactile feel of a real keyboard. I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts in Excel, and find it easier to navigate and type with this keyboard rather than the standard Surface keypad. The touchpad can be sensitive sometimes however, and the carat can jump around the screen if you are a sloppy typist (thumb pointing at my chest).

I love this key pad. Because it's so flat it's much easier on my wrist and arms than my laptop. It's not silent when I hit the keys which mimics a regular keyboard sound. Being old school, I rather count on hearing the keys clicking to give me feedback. It's dual function is a padded cover for my screen. So easy to attach it makes everything lightweight, sleek and efficient.

I prefer the feel of this keyboard greatly to the alternative. My only critiques are the price which is quite steep and how the keyboard feels when its folded back behind the tablet. When I hold the device this way, I always feel as if I'm going to accidentally press a key. Given the weight that it adds to the device, I generally don't hook my keyboard up unless I'm working on a desk or table.

After trying to use the touch keyboard, I decided to purchase this alternative MS keyboard. The keyboard is durable and overall my experience is good with the product. The biggest issue i have wit the keyboard is the lack of a ctrl button on right side of space bar. There is only a FN key. Trips me up quite often.

Excellent Keyboard. Having "real keys" is something I personally need. This keyboard is very light weight and thin. It connects to the Surface instantly using a magnetic connection. Nothing to line up or plug in, simply hold the keyboard neat the end of the Surface and it snaps right into place. It's also nice that it serves as a cover/protector for the screen. I HIGH RECOMMEND this keyboard

I really like the feel of this keyboard. It is close enough to a regular keyboard to be quite usable. The only thing not so good is that in the folded position, it is a little thicker than the touch keyboard. But overall, I'm happy with it on our Surface Pro

I love the type cover over the touch, and is definitely a must have when purchasing the Surface. It comes with all keys found on a regular keyboard, and has a hard back so you can even type in bed. It comes off with a snap, and usually reconnects easily. Sometimes the tablet doesn't always read that it has been reconnected, and it must be rebooted to work.

This keyboard pairs great with the Windows 8 Surface. I would highly recommend this keyboard over the touch keyboard. With this keyboard you can easily determine which keys you are actually pressing and they do not require much force. With the touch keyboard you have to sometimes press with a little bit of force for it to recognize your finger on the keys.

At the office I have the Surface pro plugged into a monitor, keyboard and mouse. At home if I use the Surface for work I use the touch keyboard. If I am using it for fun as a tablet then I just use the digital keyboard on the screen. The touch keyboard works great, is magnetic for connection which is awesome and easy and its a cover for the screen.

Good keyboard to use with Surface Pro. I was surprised how ti automatically attached itself to the Pro with the magnets. Pretty idiot proof. If I had to complain about anything it would be the cloth like material under the keyboard that shows when the keyboard is "closed" on the Pro. It just doesn't look great. I'd rather have it all plastic.
