Do not buy windows copies that say 'OEM' they only work a single time. As is, 8.1 isn't perfect, but it's better than 8 was and 10 seems to be even better. I'm fairly computer literate and the time it took me to adjust from how things were done on 7 to here was about three weeks. If you can't find something simply don't fret, YouTube and Google search are your friend, someone else had your problem and has a web page or video about the fix.

I really didn't want to install this over Win7, but this is all that was available with the student discount. Oh well... It works better than I was expecting; especially if you install the correct drivers for your touch pad. I was able to use gestures on a non-touch screen and everything worked out better than I thought. However, since I am a Mac user now, I mostly use spotlight and get to everything by hitting Cmd-Spacebar and typing what I want to use (ex. Cmd-Spacebar Photoshop). I found I can do the same thing with Windows 8.1. I just hit the windows key and s and type the name of the program I am looking for. Works exactly the same way. It installed all the drivers right off the bat and found my networked printers and installed drivers for that too. I was up and running in no time with zero issues.

Just upgraded to Windows 8.1 much better than 8 and easier to use.

I bought this software to update my sister in laws very out dated computer. This did the trick and has kept her going. works great :)

I bought this to install in my MacBook Air because I was highly unsatisfied with the apple features. The main thing I did not like about Windows 8 was the layout, so I upgraded to Windows 10 for free as soon as it was available. Overall, love the Windows features and ease of use. All the programs I use for school and work, run fantastic versus running them with apple nothing worked.

I went from XP to WIN 8, after XP was discontinued by Microsoft. The interface is designed with touch in mind and is not that good for regular desktop. It gets the computer running and I'm sure there will be future updates to address interface issues, I may consider WIN 7 instead for my other PC. If dealing with the WIN8 controls is not an issue, this product will work for you, computer does seem to run and respond faster.

I think Windows 8.1 is more user friendly then Windows 7.
