I had a samsung ativ a year and a half ago that shipped with windows 8. I hated it. On a whim I decided to upgrade an old PC to an SSD and picked up a copy of 8.1. Very much improved over the first iteration.

Wishing I bought 7 again, just used to the 7 maybe if I didn't already like 7

worked right out the box, installation and setup was a breeze

Windows 8-1 is very easy to use because it is well organized and the ease of finding your way around this system. The simplicity maximizes productivity.

Another example of forcing users to unnecessarily upgrade. I am not familiar enough with computers to know if ALL upgrades are needed; I doubt it. When the computers we know and love become obsolete because of the plethora of upgrades, we are forced to purchase products we don't need or want, and forced to learn things we no longer care about. I am coming from an elderly point of view.

for the price you can't beat it, good graphics, and easy to install and set up.

It took a little bit to get used to using the different screens but after awhile it became much easier and quicker and now I have my home screen set the way I want it and everything is at my fingertips.

Only purchased because windows 10 was coming out in a couple days and windows 7 was not available in store.

Had no problems installing on a new hard drive, less than an hour to install

I have a 64 bit computer however, the 64 bit disk would not work. So i had to use the 32 bit disk and thankfully it came with both. I had a few other problems with the install this being my first time doing a new OS install but, once i got it up and running it seems to work great. Now to just get acclimated to all the new features and hope in 2 years it's not obsolete!

Windows 8.1 is fast easy to use. I'm almost 50 and I haven't had to call my kids to resolve any issues. It's easier than Windows 7 that came with my laptop. Very pleased with Windows 8.1

Great software, easy to install and use. Works exactly as I suspected.

The OS is fast and easy to use once you do a bit of tweaking. I found a program called stardock8 that brought back the start button, bypasses the windows metro screen, and allows you to customize windows in a way that is very similar to Linux. Overall I give the OS a "B"... if they would have not tried to throw the "tile screen" in our faces it would get an "A"

Difficult to learn Necessary for new computers, would be nice to get a different operating system

I bought Windows 8.1 to use with Boot Camp on a partitioned Mac Book Pro with retina display. Part of what makes this so wonderful is the retina display. I was jumping from XP to Windows 8.1 so there have been a lot of improvements. I hated the really poor resolution with Windows XP and the fact that it crashed all the time. Windows 8.1 is a huge improvement for me. Also, all my Windows software is working perfectly under 8.1. I have no complaints about it--except I think the price is much too high. Mavericks was free!

The software is really easy to use. Anyone can install and use.

Having purchased this product, I was pleased at the ease of installation, and notification when existing software was incompatible.

Great product easy to set up and fast love the apps and that it looks like a tablet but also can be use as a desktop set up and also being able to get free apps is also very good
