I wouldn't recommend it for an 8 hour day as the mouse is on the smaller side. I am a female so I know that a man would have even more difficulty with the size for a long period of use. However, the scrolling is smooth, the mouse works on almost any surface, it has an option of changing the button defaults, it has an on/off switch, and a slot for the USB to go when not in use.
