If you just need something to play this is good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a ps5 that I sold and not able to buy another one but this was available for now, good console not as good ps5 by any means but gets the job down for a low price, for some reason the hdr 10+ doesn’t work on this for some reason tells me my tv doesn’t have it, but it does and the hdr 10+ worked fine with the ps5, image quality very good but the ps5 is much better still

Perfect Budget Next Gen Console
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was wanting to get a next gen console and couldn’t justify paying $500 for a ps5 or xsx, so I bought this. I was worried I’d regret buying the “cheap” version but after having it for about a month I love it! Compared to the Series X, it plays everything with the exact same performance and pretty much the same graphics (i was able to compare to my cousins series X). I have been playing Cyberpunk 2077, which has been running flawlessly (although I did turn off some graphics settings to improve frame rate). I love it and would recommend this to anyone in my situations. I would not recommend however if you fit any of the following: 1. You have a 4K tv. This only plays in 1440p. It doesn’t look bad on a 4K tv, but the series X looks way better (again comparing to my cousins console). 2. You have a collection of Xbox game discs. This device doesn’t have a disc drive, so you can’t play your physical games. The Xbox Series X is completely backwards compatible and would be a better option for you. 3. You have an extra $200 to spend. Don’t get me wrong, I love my series S. But the series X and the PS5 both have twice the storage, can play physical copies of games, can play in 4K, and have a 4K Blu-ray player. If I was made of money and had more free time I would’ve gone with the $500 consoles in a heart beat. In the end, if you are someone like myself who is a more causal gamer, doesn’t have a 4K tv, nor a collection of physical games, this is the way. Also this would be good for a child’s first console who wouldn’t know any better in terms of screen resolution and FPS. If you have the $200 lying around for the upgrade however, I’d go with the Series X

I LOVE This Console
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was one of the lucky ones that was able to buy an Xbox Series X when it released. With that purchase, I shuffled my One X to the mancave. Well, that console must have got it's feelings hurt and it decided to stop working on me. So, I went out and Best Buy actually had a Series S in stock. I instantly grabbed it! This console is incredible. First off, I cannot believe how small it is. Seriously, it has a tiny footprint. Second of all, it's rocks with performance. Yes, you are only getting 1440p (with 4K upscale if you have a 4K TV), but it still packs a punch and looks great. Oh, and let me mention how insanely quiet it is. Even though it's the little brother of the Series X, you still get the quick performance with the new SSD technology, ray-tracing graphics, and the capability of 120fps (if the game and your tv supports that). It does only have 512gb (as I am sure you are aware), so I would definitely have/use/buy an external hard drive to store your games on. They even sell the SSD expansion card if you are looking to spend the money. Overall, even with owning a Series X, I love and play this console all the time. If I feel like hanging in the mancave and playing video games, I am not bummed at all that I get to play on a Series S. You will love this console!

Cool little device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good, a little confusing on what games are free and not on the game pass as this is my first time. But all I have to do is learn to navigate the system, that’s me, not have to do with device. My kids love it and it’s fast

great second console
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.it's a nice little system. really fast. I'd say it's perfect for kids or a extra bedroom console or something, but not a system that will keep a hardcore gamer satisfied throughout this generation.

The Best Next-Gen Console You Can Actually Buy
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many, I was waiting for a Series X to become available; and I suspect I will probably end up getting one eventually should the shortage ever end. Right now, without many actual next-gen games, the console just feels like a big upgrade from my Xbox One S. I primarily bought this for the increased speed in load times, and boy does it deliver. I can play Forza 5 and Red Dead Redemption without feeling like I need to go do something else while loading. The quick resume feature is also awesome if you game-hop, but be warned it doesn't seem to work for all games. Not that big a deal, since load times are so quick, but something to be aware of. Yes, the 500GB storage is underwhelming, but what they DON'T tell you is that you can run non-X/S games just fine off of a (much cheaper) SSD for the Xbox. You don't have to spend $200 for the memory upgrade...yet. If you're looking to get into the new Xbox and have been holding out for the X . . . strongly consider the S - unless you're a real framerate/resolution purist (and frankly many of those people are kidding themselves - I work in video and most of these differences are beyond subtle when you're actually playing the game and not stopping to examine every pixel and shade). It's cheap, the form factor is fantastic, and what's the worst that happens? You end up selling it/giving it away and getting the X after all. Happy Holidays!

Like The Little Brother I Wish I’d Been
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My brother was super popular and cool in high school and all the girls liked him. I overcompensated and tried too hard to be like him… Series S is also the Series X’s lil bro, but he’s like a cool lil bro. He knows he’s not the same thing his older bro is, and he’s fine with it. Plus, he arguably looks cooler than his older brother… Makes me think about what could’ve been.

Great system at a great price.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is so overall I would say this is an absolutely fantastic buy however I will go over some of the same pros and cons of this system. Capabilities of this machine is significantly better than a PS4 and my opinion I would say it lays somewhere between PS4 and PS5. One of the amazing things about the system is some of the backwards compatible games from XBox One really really shine here such is the ORIGINAL Assassin's Cree this in my opinion graphically looks as good as most of the top tier series X/S games. Which is quite a feat cause it's having to do mega upscaling to accomplish this! Also the tomb raider reboot (2014) is quite incredible here! It gets a resolution AND frame rate boost . AMAZING! The system does processes VERY quickly due to a newer architecture and higher CPU than a last gen systems. Waiting minutes to delete games is a thing of the past. Which brings me to one of the take aways here. Storage. They really should have given the same terabyte storage that the X has because if you want to try out a lot of X/S optimized gamepass games then your going to be doing a LOT of deleting/moving with this system. It's worth noting that although you can purchase various external hard drives for this system, only the Seagate 1 TB expansion card will allow you to download series x/s optimized games. You can use any external hard drive to download and play Xbox One games but if you want the series X/S versions of the games, which tend to run and look a lot better; you can only do it on the system storage which is pathetic at best or you have to purchase this super expensive proprietary expansion card starting at $149 for 1 TB and $279 for 2 TB. Last but not least most of the games are going to look and run significantly better on the series X. However this is a great go between of the last gen and current gen and it's a steal for 299.

Next Gen affordable option
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best value for next gen consoles. Compared to its big brother, the Series X, what you are giving up is a physical disc drive, storage space, and 4K. What you get in return is a savings of $200. As someone who has both I can assure you it performs as well as the series X and PS5. Out of all the consoles I would say to buy the Series X if possible. But who is this intended for? Ultimately the best part of this console is the affordablity and being able to pair it with game pass (the best value in gaming). If you are someone who does not have a 4K monitor and does not intend to get one, this is for you. If you are looking for an affordable option for a kid this is probably your best bet, especially with game pass. Also if you are someone who normally plays on the PS5 (or PS4) only, this is for you. I was caught up in the console war at one time as well, but I assure you you won't regret getting an xbox as well. The value for game pass is too good to pass up anymore and you need a system that is compatible. This could literally just be your game pass machine.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son loves it! It doesn’t have a disk drive so you don’t run into the issue with the red ring of death. Only issue is the storage, but that can be fixed with an external HD.
