Customers are saying

Customers commend the Xbox Series S for its affordability, compact size, and impressive performance, especially considering its price point. Many appreciate the ease of use and fast load times, along with the benefits of Xbox Game Pass. However, some users point out limitations in storage capacity and the lack of a disc drive as significant drawbacks. The console's resolution capabilities also receive mixed feedback.

    Great Little Console

Got this for my son. He had a One S. Small but has some weight to it. We plugged it in and went through the setup with the app on his phone. Very easy to do. My internet is 500mbs download and 20mbs upload. The update for the console took only like two minutes. He downloaded Call Of Duty Black Ops Cold War and all the expansion packs and updates in 6 minutes. This and the update would have took hours on the old console. So is it fast ? Yes !! Load times are fast also. Graphics and gameplay are excellent. Got the 1TB expansion card. Call of duty and all the add ons if I remember right took 86GB so that still left a lot on the internal drive itself. So was it worth the money ? I think so. Will the old One S play a game like this one would ? Yes. But you just have to be a little more patient that’s all. An avid gamer or real technical person would notice the differences more. But anyone would notice the difference in load times and speed. I would recommend this console to anyone thinking about it. (If You Can Get One lol) Hope some of this info helps ! Happy Xbox Hunting and Happy Holidays to everyone !! P.S. we didn’t even try the controller. We paired his ultimate controller right off the bat.

Xbox Series S: Next-Gen Gaming on a Budget

The Xbox Series S is a great pick if you’re after a budget-friendly next-gen console. It’s small, runs quietly, and delivers super smooth gameplay. No disc drive, but with Game Pass, you’ve got tons of games to play, so you won’t miss it. Load times are crazy fast, and it handles most games really well. If 4K isn’t a must for you, the Series S is totally worth it!

    Xbox almost next-gen

Great value for what you get, although not truly next-gen. Biggest limiting factor is the hard drive size. If you already have an external hard drive and don't mind moving games this is mitigated. Perfect little game pass machine.

Xbox Series S is Cool With Me

It’s powerful enough for me. I had been using an Xbox One S to play just a few games but wanted to upgrade because I was having a lot of loading issues with one game I really enjoyed. The system design itself is really similar to the Xbox One. It’s slightly less wide but also a little taller. It does heat up so make sure to keep it in the open so it can breath lol. I don’t have a 1440p monitor or a screen that does 120hz so I can’t judge that aspect of the Series S but it does make the darks look darker and the brights look brighter. The game I was having loading issues with on Xbox One S has zero issues running on the Series S. There were, however, a few new concerns but the game itself ran smoother then ever. Having a disc drive would be important if I didn’t already have something to play Blu-ray’s or dvds. I have very few physical disc games and have been moving towards digital with all the online sales and things like game pass. I also don’t have a wide library of games that I like to play at one time so having the smaller storage is fine with me. I capture a lot of clips when I play and I noticed there is a limit on length of clips using 1080p. The max I’m seeing is 1 minute at a time. That’s for both what’s happened and recording what’s happening. I’ve had no issues with any of the capturing functions so far. Overall, it’s a nice enhancement from an Xbox One S. The price is definitely reasonable if you’re a casual gamer who doesn’t need a lot to be happy.

I was looking for a console that would display good quality. Games run smoothly and it doesnt need hardcopys. I am not a heavy gamer so the amount of GB it came with was perfectly fine with me. If you are a heavy gamer and will have alot of games then i would recommend getting the X instead.

Great little console (emphasis on little). It's not going to get you 4K/60 FPS in all games but this console is for folks that don't care about that but still want a "next gen" experience. This has the same fast storage as the Series X so load times are super fast on almost everything. Fantastic for Gamepass as there is no disk drive here so digital games is all you get. This is a great secondary console or unit for a secondary location (I have an X in the Den and an S in the downstairs rec room). I do have 2 complaints...one is general to the Series consoles and that is storage expansion cost. Was hoping other vendors would be offering solutions but it's currently only Seagate and the price is high. The other issue is specific to the Series S and that's the fact that it doesn't play the Xbox One X enhanced versions of games due to a lower memory spec than the One X. This means that when playing older backward compatible games that were enhanced for the One X (which released in 2017), you don't get those enhancements and are playing the standard Xbox One version. Not a huge deal as we move forward into the new gen but worth pointing out. TL;DR, Great little console, storage fast and gamepass is great.

The next generation of gaming is here, and it's pretty good. For the price. There aren't any "blow your mind" exclusives yet, but a lot of games look and run better on these new consoles. GamePass is an amazing deal, and definitely shows the value of the console. All in all, $300 is a great price on a next gen console, especially considering you'll have it for almost a decade to come.

Bought for my husband for Christmas last year and let’s just say I’ve been playing it more than him, the storage is great for the type of gaming we do and the quality is good it hasn’t glitched out or ran hot.

Great console! I usually prefer the concept of disc for consoles but considering disc drives always have issues over time this console makes the most sense. Has the benefits of the series x but won’t have future issues.

We bought this for our son and purchased an extra controller in his favorite color. The learning curve isn’t big and he gets to play all the games he wants with our Microsoft membership. He occasionally will want to purchase game packs which are so much easier to do than brand new games all the time. On special occasions we pop into Best Buy and get him a card for him to spend on the Xbox. We do have fast internet which helps in ensuring he has no buffering in his console. Looks so stylish on our tv stand too which is a plus. No more piles of games next to the console.

I wasnt so sure about this model since i never owned an xbox, but giving this guy a shot at a cheaper price was a great idea, some games and geforce now allowed me to play old school games that aren’t available on the ps5 and I’m having a blast with it
