Great Machine Hampered by an Uncertain Future.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR; Great system, love the backwards compatibility. I have got hours of fun out of it and would buy it again. Future is shaky, but what is here is pretty good. Graphics - Image quality in most cases is very good. Framerate in most games is also very good, usually 60 FPS. There are a few games that are locked to 30 FPS, but those are very few and far between. There is a trade-off in some games where if you want the sharper graphics, you will need to deal with 30 FPS. Or if you want the smoother gameplay of 60 FPS, you end up with an image that is fuzzier or in some cases down right blurry. Library - Very good library of backwards compatible games, some of which even receive resolution or FPS boosts or both. Most current gen third party games are also on Xbox. The downside is exclusives. Xbox does not have a lot of exclusives outside of Halo / Forza / Gears. And they are not receiving the Sony exclusives in the foreseeable future. You would do well to make a list of games you want to play and make sure none of them are Sony exclusives. Controller - Great upgrade over the Xbox One version. Very comfortable. Not as big of a leap as the PS5 Dualsense controller (that one really feels next gen). The battery life is amazing, especially if you get a charging stand and a battery pack. Audio - No complaints, although I am not great at rating sound. It outputs to the TV and it sounds good, not sure what else to say lol. Storage - 1TB in 2024 is a little on the small side. You will need an external SSD or an expansion card. I would suggest 2TB for either. Also, the external option will only play Xbox One, 360, and Original games. The expansion card will play all games. Online Play - You need Gamepass Core to play online (with a few exceptions for free games like Fortnite, Roblox, Apex, etc). I think it's around $60 per year. Gamepass Ultimate is pretty nice if you play a lot of games or you would like to try out Cloud gaming on your tablet / phone / laptop. You also get a lot of new releases like Indiana Jones and Call of Duty day one at no extra cost, which is a nice perk. The Future? - Xbox seems to be in a transition period right now. Their current offerings and the console itself are very good. I will say that Xbox does not seem very clear on what it wants to do in the future or how it will successfully execute whatever vision they may have. That may not matter to you in the long run, but it is something to consider. Conclusion - This is a solid console that will provide hours of fun and good value through Gamepass. The somewhat uncertain future and lack of a clear direction from Microsoft does make the console look a little less compelling, to the point that I felt the need to take one star off of what should be a 5-star system. I would still recommend it to a friend as it represents a good long term value combined with Gamepass. Just maybe hold off on building up a big library until Xbox clearly communicates their future plans.

Promising Start to the Ninth Gen of Consoles
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After gaming on PS4 for the past seven years, it has been a real pleasure coming back to the Xbox platform with the Series X. Most of my old Xbox and X360 games work on this system, albeit with updated graphics and performance, and Game Pass makes it easy to check out some of the big games I missed on X1. The system itself is snappy, loading times are practically eliminated, and setup was so quick and easy (download the Xbox app for your smartphone first and set up your Xbox account there—you'll be grateful you did). And you'll get spoiled fast by Quick Resume—it's tough going back to PS4 after you start using this feature for a few days. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this platform.

Xbox Series X is insanely good!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the Xbox series X for Christmas this year. I previously had the Xbox series s and was happy with it however, I wanted more power, more storage, and a console that could take disc. I could not have been more happy with the Xbox series X. It is crazy fast (about the same as the series s but faster). The games on it are good and game pass is insane. And the storage is enough for you to have fun for a while. This is the best console I have experienced (had a Wii, Nintendo switch, ps4, ps5, and Xbox series s. If you guys are looking to maximize your performance and have a wonderful time I would 100% recommend this!

First Launch Console is a success
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything so far with the console is working as advertised. I didn't think that quick resume would be as big of deal as it is, but it makes a drastic difference. It's insane how fast games load from a cold start or start from quick resume. I have an elite 2 controller so I don't use the controller that came with the console that much. It is also insanely quiet and I completely forget it's in a room sometimes when it's on. It does get hot sometimes but it has been very random with what games make it hot. The only game that has made it noticeably hotter was Fortnite (please don't flame me it was the only game I had installed at the time lol) and that seems to be it.

Nostalgia Meets Modern Gaming - A 5-Star Return to
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who dabbled in gaming back in the early '90s, reentering the console scene with the Xbox Series X has been quite the journey. Let's start with the graphics. The leap from pixelated sprites to the stunning 4K resolution and smooth 60 frames per second is mind-boggling. The ray tracing is a nice touch, even if I'm still adjusting to games looking almost too real. Speed has come a long way since the days of waiting for games to load on floppy disks. The Xbox Series X's ultra-fast load times are a welcome change, and the Quick Resume feature is a game-changer for someone used to patiently swapping out cartridges. Storage was a constant concern in the '90s, but the Series X's ample space is a breath of fresh air. The backward compatibility is a blast from the past, letting me revisit classics with a modern twist. The controller has evolved, but it's still familiar and comfortable. The Share button is a new addition that I never knew I needed – capturing and sharing gaming moments has never been easier. In essence, the Xbox Series X has made my return to consoles a pleasant surprise. It seamlessly combines the nostalgia of my early gaming days with the advancements of modern technology. While I may still miss the simplicity of blowing into a cartridge, the Series X has earned its 5 stars as a welcome companion on my gaming journey.

The new generation in console gaming
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When available, both the series s and x offer a fantastic gaming experience. If you're an xbox veteran, you'll already be familiar with the layout of the user interface. Gamepass ultimate is also a no brainer for either console; especially the s since it's digital. It's been a long time since the quality of panel (tv/monitor) played a pivotal role in the gaming experience. This console really benefits from a true HDMI 2.1 source to unlock 4k/120FPS in games that support it. But in reality, even having 4K/60FPS in a console as compact and efficient as this is amazing on it's own. It's not as future proof as current PC (at time of release even) components, but we're also seeing components being stretched longer and longer for longevity, so having one of these will hold in my opinion, as long as the previous generation. I do hate that the storage expansion is proprietary for Series S/X enhanced games, and THE CONTROLLER STILL USE AA BATTERIES IN THE YEAR 2021/2022 but there are options for those at least. Find a discount SSD for your One X/360/OG Xbox games and let the main console storage work for Series X games whenever possible. For those not in the know, the components are AMD based. I believe zen 2 and rdna 2 graphics. Again, not as strong as their independent parts, but solid performance and consistent frames is what these are for, and they're darn good at it. Are these expensive? Yeah. But It beats trying to build a comparable PC at 2-3x the cost. If you can get the all access bundle, it's worth the credit application. If you can get a standalone and use bestbuy credit, also worth it. IF your only option is buying a bloated bundle, hopefully they include games you wanted to play. And finally, if it's a ps5/series x conversation, it's really a toss up for me. I'm fortunate to own both. What you're paying for, is user interface, size, and exclusives. Gamepass is a solid win for xbox. Sony's console is large, awkward (but I dig it) and the interface, while similar to ps4, does take a bit getting used to. The PS5 controller feels better in my hands and they're USB-C rechargeable controllers. If I had to choose one, it would be whichever has exclusive games (and if I have a back logged library) that interest me. If you're a gamer who plays any multi console release, either console when available will suffice. If you're an exclusives person, then you probably already know.

Amazing the second time around!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I purchased this and it had a serious issue with input lag and game lag, there was clearly a problem with it. I gave it 5 stars because I returned it and best buy replaced it with a new one with no hassles, they were amazing! They actually said they had 8 open box Xbox’s that had been returned in the past 2 weeks! So clearly there’s a manufacturing issue. But thanks to best buy, I got a new one immediately. The second one works perfectly. I also have a PS5 and I think the Xbox operates faster and cooler with near identical graphics. I also got the Xbox advance 2 controller which is FAR superior to any other controller I’ve used. So ya I recommend the Xbox over PlayStation, and definitely recommend purchasing through best buy because of they’re amazing returns if you happen to get a lemon.

Another great Xbox console
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As always, this next generation of Xbox doesn’t disappoint. Great graphics, speedy startup and a very robust lineup of games available through Game Pass, what’s not to love? For the bad stuff, yes, it runs super hot, it takes up quite a bit of space, and pricey. That all disappears when you get immersed in the environments that the games hold. Another solid addition to the Xbox line of consoles. I can’t wait to see what games come out when developers really utilize the power that this console offers.

Great gaming console for any gamer!
|Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.[Employee of bestbuy] This a console that transcends the previous. I mean, it is insane. For the price you can run almost everything at 4k 120fps (of course limited to a few titles that don't have those capabilities or monitors/TVs that aren't able to display that). It's completely silent compared to Xbox One S. It runs amazing and doesn't have many draw backs. The only thing that is worthy of complaint is the fact that it doesn't have much storage. 1tb is really closer to about 800 gigs. But, I bought the 2tb memory card, and that gave me a lot of space for games. I would recommend for anyone who wants to start playing games for a cheaper price than most gaming computers that are equal to its performance (of course, if you're planning to play mostly cross-platform fps games or Xbox exclusives). The one thing I would recommend besides the console is to grab an after market controller that has hall effect sticks so you don't get drift. Other than that, if you take care of your controller, it'll last a couple years.

Definitely a worthy upgrade!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The shipping was fast and the new Series X amazed me. I was used to the Xbox one (2015 model) and the graphics, higher resolution, and frame rate makes the Series X worth it. The ssd is also incredibly fast and games load quickly. I highly recommend getting the Xbox Series X if you have a 4K display, so you can use this console to its maximum potential. The 1 terabyte storage capacity is pretty nice. You can also install more SSDs for extra storage. If you have Original Xbox or Xbox 360 titles you’re in luck because the disk drive takes care of that for you through backwards compatibility. Some games can also be ran at higher resolutions and frame rates than before. Backwards compatibility is one of my favorite things about the original Xbox. The included controller awesome for a couple of reasons. The controller uses a USB port instead of a micro usb port. I prefer this because it makes it harder to pull the cable out compared to the micro usb versions. It also has a nice texture for extra grip underneath the handles. The new D pad is also a nice addition to the controller. Overall I 5/5 recommend this console.

Love It!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked up my console on launch day and I’ve been playing it ever since. I will say that the console is a lot bigger than I was expecting but it’s less bulky than the original Xbox One. My games run ridiculously smooth and I upgraded from the Xbox One S. The graphics are stellar on my 4K UHD Samsung tv. The console is basically silent, it hasn’t overheated, load times are essentially nonexistent and the console itself boots up very quickly. I haven’t had any issues so far with my console but I purchased the 2 year Geek Squad protection, just in case.

An absolute powerhouse and a whole new console exp
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really hesitated this purchase. I kicked around the idea of the upgrade for quite some time. I notice my local store had some in stock and almost pulled the plug but ultimately ended up holding off once again. Of course, they sold out quickly and again I had missed my chance. Fast forward a week or so, the opportunity presented itself once again. This time I pulled the trigger and purchased my Xbox series x. Even after the purchase I continued to tell myself the Xbox one x was a powerful unit and this upgrade was unnecessary. I soon learned how wrong us was. The Xbox series x is absolute powerhouse and a whole new console experience. Starting from the unboxing I must say I was very underwhelmed. The packaging was dull and did not provide the unboxing excitement that day and Apple product would posses. Upon hooking up the console and powering it up I immediately noticed improved graphics and speed. I fired up Elden Ring and was amazed by the night and day difference from the x1x to the xsx. Gameplay was incredibly swift , clean and smooth,, loud times are Non existent, graphics are flawless and movements are crisp. I’ve since played a few other games and have been impressed with the noticeable difference. Gaming on the x1x now seems clunky and slow. With the size of newer games maps this really is a must. The only real downfall is that the new control still is sent out with one time use battery’s. Amazon has many rechargeable batteries to solve that problem so it really is minuscule. The slight modifications to the controller made a work of art even better. If you have an opportunity to get your hands on this machine do not hesitate as you won’t regret it.

Great next-gen console
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the second you boot up an Xbox One Series X (the name could use some work) you get that feeling of the enhanced performance, the way everything loads very quickly. But then, so far, the next-gen gaming experiences on Xbox seem very much the same. Granted I've only played WatchDogs Legion (great game) and some of the remastered experiences like Horizon 4, Master Chief X/S, and others, yet there is no huge "this game feels next gen" experiences yet. You do get glimpses though. For example the opening scene of Legion has you walk through a cathedral where moonlight shines through a stained glass window onto your character accurately. And then the reflections on the streets and in water. Seeing a daytime reflection in the river of the underside of a bridge was pretty incredible and something not scene before. But aside from that I think most experiences are going to be just like this, subtle. But aside from that the big reason I grabbed a console day one (aside from being very lucky and trying over and over again) was to get the backwards compatibility for current and older gen titles. Playing games even from a USB spinning disk still has advantages in performance over the Xbox One. Older Xbox and 360 games look and perform noticeably better as well, like gaming on a PC when you jump a few generations in graphics cards. And the transition from Xbox One to Xbox Series X was instant. I literally just unplugged the 4TB drive I had my games stored on from my Xbox One X and plugged it into the Series X. And they were instantly recognized and playable! I also happened to grab a PS5, and I'll mention it here that despite PS5 being equally great, the transition from taking games on one drive from your PS4 Pro to PS5 is a buggy mess. Even transferring over the network doesn't work as it should. Again I mention this because Microsoft's implementation is easy and flawless, the way it should be. All of this said, and with new games bound to release shortly that really show off the Xbox Series X and S power, buy in when you can. Try and hold out from scalpers and their 3 to 4 times price hiking as the real reasons to buy in will come. But if you are lucky enough to grab one, you can relive all your great Xbox experiences now.

Review from a Playstation fan perspective
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Xbox Series X is an excellent piece of hardware. The SSD storage makes for really quick low times. The Quick Resume functionality was something that I thought I'm not really that interested in I don't need it, but after using it for a couple weeks now it makes the overall gaming experience much more pleasant. The excellent backwards compatibility that's been implemented in the Series X is really quite astounding. You get support all the way back from the Xbox One to the original Xbox game console. Pretty much every backwards compatible title has enhancements in low times, resolution, frame rate, and some have added HDR support. If you're just joining the Xbox family for the first time from PlayStation or Nintendo, a must have is Game Pass. You get access to hundreds of games from Microsoft's back catalog and even some new releases, along with the majority of Microsoft first party titles. It's an excellent value. Now for the not so good parts. The overall OS/UI it's just pretty much a copy and paste of the Xbox one OS. I've never been a huge fan of it but it gives the job done. I've always preferred the Sony OS because to me it felt much more simple and easier to use. The Xbox Series X controller is a solid controller. It's an improvement from the Xbox one controller, I like the texture grip, and the d-pad is improved which for me is a big plus because I like to play a lot of 2D action games and I don't like using analog stick for that. But Sony has really knocked it out of the park with the Dualsense controller which makes Microsoft controller seem a little less exciting. The biggest negative of all with the Xbox series X, it's just the lack of first party games. But I'm buying into this ecosystem this time around because with all the recent studio acquisitions Microsoft has made it looks like the first party lineup should be much better this generation. The reason that I give this five stars despite the negatives that I've mentioned, is because this is a hardware review not a software review. I hope you found this review useful and somewhat insightful.

Beast of a console
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Xbox Series X is a absolute BEAST of a console. I own both the Series X & PS5 digital console. I use the Series X just about everyday as my PS5 sits there collecting dust waiting for Playstation's next exclusive games to come out. Also, Gamepass is absolutely the best gaming deal in the industry, especially for new consumers who dont own any games. I own alot of Xbox digital & disk games. However now I rarely buy games anymore bc I've come to learn they'll almost likely end up in GP at some point. The Series X has a bunch of cool features including quick resume, Xbox Velocity Architecture which comprises four major components: a custom NVME SSD, hardware accelerated decompression, a brand new DirectStorage API layer and Sampler Feedback Streaming (SFS). The box also leverages AMD freesync & VRR on new tvs that support it something Sony's console still doesnt have. Also Xbox doesnt charge you twice for the same game like Playstation does. The Series X is worth every penny and is built for the future of gaming
