I didn't expect these to really go 25 miles everywhere, but these would even go two miles. We got about 1.6 miles, but at that point the static was so bad you could barely make out the other person. These could be fun for some kids playing in the backyard, but if you have trees or hills or anything these will NOT go the distance.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.You could plug the charging cable into both units and they would charge - but even Best Buy customer service couldn't unplug the one unit. They had no replacement except an "upgraded" set (slightly longer range) which they offered for the same price - but the included rechargeable battery pack offered less capacity and thus run time than alkyline batteries, so I went for the refund. In short Best Buy tried, but Midland left them and I down by releasing a unit with a defective port. NOTE - the previous Midlands that I had worked well - but they featured a rechargeable battery pack that couldn't last 2 hours of standby, WAY less than advertized. I think I'm done with them.
