I only bought them because of the FRS. I never plan on using them as radios, but that option is there if I need it. The emergency channel works great in the closet we chose as our storm bunker. I keep the radios handy with fresh batteries in the fridge for the next time we need them.

The best feature is that they come with rechargeable batteries, but also have the ability to use regular batteries. Best buy had the lowest price.
