Yes followed instructions. After 7 hours or less not even talking on them much the batteries die in one and then the other one within 30 minutes. Very disappointed.

Posted .FRS radios are under 2 watts. The T31 is a 1/2-watt radio that averages 1/4-1/2 mile. Midland has several higher-wattage radios that can get farther range. The T71 is a stronger FRS radio that will get a better range and has a longer-lasting battery. The GMRS radios are over 2 watts and up to 5 watts. Midland has 3 models of GMRS radios. Posted .The rechargeable batteries should last approximately 5 hours if used off and on through out the day. The batteries do need to be replaced between 9 months and a year depending on usage.
