Posted .The T31 is a 1/2 watt radio which is a lower power radio than some of the other Midland radios. A general rule for the range is 1 mile per watt. Different ranges according to obstructions are illustrated on the packaging. The extreme ranges can be reached in perfect conditions such as over water or mountain top to mountain top. Contact the Midland Customer Experience team through support@midlandusa.com for assistance with the batteries.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.You could plug the charging cable into both units and they would charge - but even Best Buy customer service couldn't unplug the one unit. They had no replacement except an "upgraded" set (slightly longer range) which they offered for the same price - but the included rechargeable battery pack offered less capacity and thus run time than alkyline batteries, so I went for the refund. In short Best Buy tried, but Midland left them and I down by releasing a unit with a defective port. NOTE - the previous Midlands that I had worked well - but they featured a rechargeable battery pack that couldn't last 2 hours of standby, WAY less than advertized. I think I'm done with them.
