Story brings out factors leading up to the air battle and how and when the enemy's plans of Midway attack was discovered. Stunning graphics of aerial bombing and maneuvers. This film brings out more about the Navy Douglas dive bombers and their actions in the battle as compared to the Navy torpedo bombers actions. All in all, a very entertaining film and a must for WWII history buff's.

The Midway steelbook will make a great addition to any collection, especially if you are fan of war movies. The coolest part about this steel (and I wish more would have this feature) is the plastic, translucent slip cover. It has the movies title and some small visual highlights that add to the steelbook itself. The old war time postor look to the actual steelbook has a great design too.

This particular movie, unlike so many other previous WW II movies (made as post-war propaganda tools), surveyed the geopolitical interest of the Japanese government, and the flawed U. S. Intelligence leaders, who failed to acknowledge a rising threat in Asia, during a time of conflict & war in Europe. Great historical content for the serious viewer, and students of history. LCRW

The battle of Midway was the pivot point of the Pacific conflict in World War II. This movie presents the story in a very intense way and is historically accurate. It's not better than the 1976 version, but equally as good. It presents the story from both sides - no good guys vs. bad guys - but accurately portrays the horror of war. It's one of the better war movies I've seen.

This is almost an excellent movie. It moves very quickly through some of the history of the war and brings us to the great naval battle that was a turning point in the Pacific theater. Some of the effects are outstanding but some of the fire effects leave a little to be desired. The acting is very good with casting that seemed on the older side, but I haven't compared actors age to the actual people at the time. Nonetheless, this is a story that needs to be told before new generations forget the importance of what was accomplished before them.

This goes well with other 'Midway' items I have, including another movie and documentary. What is important in this one is the submarine scenes, which give reason to why the destroyer or cruiser was away from the Japanese fleet and trying to return to it, when it was spotted by carrier planes. I think Woody Harrelson does a good job as Adm. Nimitz. This dvd also does a good job with Adm. Halsey and also the Intelligence portion of it. This is not a complete picture as the battle of the Coral Sea is omitted as is Adm. Spruance's role.

I was surprised this movie was a good as it was. As a history buff and fan of war movies, I was very pleased with the overall production quality and accuracy. It isn't 100%, but close to 90% accurate. Direction is impeccable, the scenes flow and the action is beautifully displayed! Solid acting and great casting makes this an easy re-watchable movie. Way better than the mostly forgettable Pearl Harbor from a few years back. The Blu Ray packaging and disc are very high quality. The Vudu HD digital edition is very good quality too.

When I found out about the movie back in June 2019 I was surprised that Admiral Nimitz was played by Woody Harrelson. For the history buffs the movie center on CDR Edwin Layton and LT Dick Best instead of CDR Rochefort and Rear Admiral Spruance. The movie showed that Torpedo Squadron 6 (VT-6) was the 1st carrier-based torpedo squadron to attack the IJN fleet, which is incorrect, Torpedo 8 (VT-8) was the 1st carrier-based squadron attacked the IJN. Other than that enjoyed the movie very much for a WWII history buff like myself.

I recently viewed a documentary on THC about the battle at Midway. This movie follows the battle to the letter. I collect films from all the wars we’ve been in. This is a great addition to my library. Now I’m waiting for “1917” to be released to add to my collection. Again, a gripping story from the journal kept by the main character of the story. Amazing cinematography.

Besides reliving a true story of the naval WWII battle, the movie points out the behind scenes heroes decrypting the enemy's signals and strategically out foxed the enemy's next move. Also, great video work on the pilot's point of view, as the plane shows their dive-bombing and pulling up in the last seconds. Great action movie... so much better than 1917(overrated).

I went and saw this with my Veterans' group and we were not disappointed at all! It was the film that the movie Pearl Harbor should have been! This was such a great recreation of the actual events of both Dec. 7th 1941 and The Battle of Midway! The script, the cinematography, the action, the drama were all great! It's a great tribute to those that fought during WWII!

This WWII movie not like the John Wayne 70's movie. It was so much more ! Great cast and authenticity in depicting the historic events that unfolded leading up to the battle of Midway. So enjoyed the movie, the special effects were awesome and the special features really added to the overall feeling since it helped explain so much afterwards. Well worth it. Enjoy !

They don’t make movies like this any more and that’s what’s wrong with Hollywood. This is an uplifting, historically accurate telling of the turning point in American history. The strategy of the war and its heroes are on full display and the movie’s action and story telling is riveting. A great tribute to the men who gave their lives and risked all for freedom.

While clearly a Hollywood movie it does a fairly good job of sticking to the historical story in a fairly fast paced format. Though the heavy use of CGI is somewhat obvious it still looks a lot better to me than the old movie Midway filmed with all sorts of "wrong" warships, etc. They went to considerable length to make it "look right". I enjoyed the movie.

I rented this originally from Redbox and I wanted to go cheap so I got it in DVD, huge mistake it was like watching a VHS tape on a really old TV. Then I rented it in Blu-ray much better then I ended up buying the steelbook and I will tell you 4K makes all the difference in this movie oh my word!! Mind you I have. 4k tv and 4k Blu-ray player!

I was very excited to see this film. We recently bought a 65 inch TV and with the surround sound it was an awesome experience. It's especially great that they start the film years before the war to show the background that most people don't know. I haven't enjoyed a war movie that much in a long time so if you're a fan of the genre you should buy this film

Met all expectations. I bought the 4K with ATMOS version of MIDWAY to check out my new Martin Lawrence Speakers, which I also bought from Best Buy. Was totally worth it, the action, sound, and knowing it was based on true events could not be better. Highly recommend, especially if you want the full ATMOS experience.

Based on true events, this film is amazing. I have yet to watch the 4K UHD disc, but I have seen the film and I hear that the 4K UHD presentation and the Dolby Atmos is amazing, if not reference quality. I picked up the Steelbook and I am glad I did. The artwork is truly great and I will be proud to display it in my collection.

One of the Best Steelbooks out there. Beautiful detail and transparent plastic protective sleeve make this a unique package. The movie itself is great and the 4K presentation is spot on in detail and sound. If you have a projector it's quite an experience, if not I have watched it on my LG OLED as well and it is outstanding.

This movie is great. My son has wanted it for a long a while now. Him and his friends had a pizza party. They watched it watched it several times. And the family watched it the next day. Great edge of your seat thriller. Will be loaning it to other family members that are lined up to watch it. It’s a cant miss. I highly recommend it. Very entertaining!
