This is a great historically based movie. The movie does a good job of introducing a ton of different historical moments, tracing a beautiful and wonderful character arc, demonstrating the emotions of the many involved characters, and being just to both sides in this engagement. A truly beautiful depiction of these monumental historical events.

One of the best looking steelbooks released from any studio in a while, plus it comes with a clear protective slipcover. Target also has a steelbook release for this with good artwork but no 4K disc so Best Buy got my money this time out. No idea how the movie is, haven't watched it yet but if you've seen one Emmerich movie you've seen them all.

I don't know why this movie didn't do better than it did. I thought it was great, as nd when I saw it at Best Buy I grabbed it. Story of one of the most important naval battles in history. It's also a great demo disc for my 7.2.4 system.

Bought this mostly for entertainment and in honor of our sailors and Marines that fought in the battle. The story line leaves much to be desired in terms of writing quality, with lots of lame lines, and there's a lot of hokey CG that detracts from the movie, but surprisingly it's not as horrible of a movie as I expected. Ed Skrein as the lead actor (Dick Best) is just not a good actor, and his attempt at a NY accent was terrible and laughably bad. He was exceedingly wooden and his facial expressions comically forced. Woody Harrelson turned in a decent performance as Chester Nimitz in the relatively small amount of screen time. Patrick Wilson was actually very good as the lead crypto officer Edwin Layton, delivering a natural and believable performance. Luke Kleintank, who many will recognize from The Man in the High Castle, was good in his role playing Clarence Dickinson - and he might have been even better if he'd been given better lines. Surprisingly enough Nick Jonas wasn't as horrible an actor as I expected...LOL. Aaron Eckhart's performance was underwhelming as Jimmy Doolittle, but not horrible. Dennis Quaid was meh as Bull Halsey. Where this movie can be said to have shined was in the acting of the Japanese actors, they were - by and large - excellent to outstanding. They were pretty much what saved the movie, aside from the performances of Patrick Wilson and Luke Kleintank.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I liked the acting. The effects were for the most part quite good plus the aerial battles were thriliing. The 4k video presentation is very good considering the digital processing involved. However, the Dolby Atmos mix is the real treat here, it is loud and bombastic, as it should be for a war film.

I REALLY did enjoy this movie. It really does bring you in and places you in the middle of the action. It gives you an overall view of when the "tide of war" did change. I believe this is a much improved version of the original titled movie in the 70's, but the original movie does hold a special place for me.

Just a great WW2 movie! I grew up watching movies like 'The Bridge over the River Kwai', 'Green Berets', and ' Midway (original)', and while those are still better WW2 movies, this has a lot of the same themes, and feels like it has done honor to that genre of movie.

Too many critics didn’t like this movie but hey, what do they know that us movie goers don’t!? Point is it had action, heart, history and kept you engaged. Some good performances along with strong special effects that kept the movie grounded in historical fact without jumping the fence. Enjoyable, maybe a little slow setting up the story and facts behind Midway, but needed to be done as the movie is all about history and World War 2. Worth a look!

One of the best World War II Pacific Theater movies. A terrific cast, a great script, great acting, 4K version has awesome video and the surround sound lets you hear bullets, etc. from all around; really places you in the middle of the action. If you enjoy World War II movies, this is definitely one to own.

What truly sets this picture from the original (I own them both) is the special effects. What they can do today is so phenomenal. The story is so engrossing as it turned the tide in the Pacific War shortly after Pearl Harbor. Gives great background into what took place prior to and during the battle. A must see.

Steelbook is beautiful. Stone of the best artwork I've seen. The thick plastic Slipcover helps protect the steelbook since best buy doesn't know how to ship ( they always send Steelbooks in bubble envelopes which often results in damage). Some of the acting is sub-par, but a great movie nonetheless.

I must admit I had higher expectations for this movie. I've watched this movie now three times (one in the theater and two at home). The second time I watched it at home I found myself distracted doing other things. Don't get me wrong, the first time I was blown away (almost literally, the Dolby Vision/Atmos in this movie awesome) but as I watched it over I found myself almost bored with the sub-plots. It's not likely I'll watch this again.

This movie was overall good. Based on true story, didn't know this thing happen in past until I watched movie. Good Dolby ATMOS surround sound, good direction, overall everything good. For me one of the few movie I have ever watched and like in Year 2020. Even though movie with lots of CGI but looks and feel likes real. Good sound always make big impact while you watching in 150" screen and this movie has both good sound and image.

Very accurate retelling of a battle that changed the course of history in World War II. One of my favorite movies of all time with a great cast and superb acting. Special effects were very realistic and kept you on the edge of your seat. It is a movie that I will watch ovrr and over and highly recommend.

Excellent movie. Every part of the movie was true to what I read In my collection about the war in the pacific theater. My father served in the pacific campaign. The 4K picture was excellent and the sound effects are fantastic. The actor’s were very good. We need to get the movie “Pearl Harbor “ (2001) released in 4K UHD

Yeah, the movie is great. The real treat, though, is the 4k version's sound quality. This is one of those high visual impact flicks that would really benefit from the 4k experience visually, but actually it is the audio that steals the spotlight here. With a halfway decent speaker set up, the film's impact is substantially improved. If you've got the equipment for it, definitely go with the 4k version of this over the blu-ray.

This movie recreates the chain of events that lead up to and took place at The Battle of Midway. This movie pays tribute and homage to the people who sacrificed so much during those turbulent times in history. Very well done. Makes us mindful of the time when war is no more.

Great film that reminds us of one of the most pivotal battles in the Pacific theater of WWII. What makes it even better, the characters in the film portray real-life people that were there in the Pacific Theater, from Jimmy Doolittle to Dick Best and Isokuro Yamamoto. A must for any war aficionado!

Very good movie overall. Reason why I bought the 4k HDR disc instead of downloading the digital? It's all in the audio. You will never get the audio quality from a digital download than you will get with the actual bluray disc from your player through your AVR to your TV in Hi-Res audio. Never. You'll never get True atmos or Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master audio or DTS-X. Those audio forms can't be reproduced by streaming.

This is a great remake of the classic movie and WW II battle for Midway which was the turning point for the war for the US. Great special effects put you into the seat of the dive bombers making runs through a firestorm of enemy anti-aircraft fire making their attacks of Japanese carriers.
